What would you write as the premise for a yearlong project of at most 50 comic pages?

This is both a challenge and a way to hopefully get inspired to have my own idea that would fit that mold.

A guy get's hit by a truck and then dies. He then wakes up in hell. He thinks that he's been isekaid but no, he was just a bad person being punished for it. In his delusions he decides that he needs to defeat the demon king, which in reality is Satan, to bring back peace to this land and so he goes on this quest. He makes a team with other people and convinces them that they've also been isekaid. Maybe even befriends some demons. He could, along the journey, figure out what's actually going on but is now too invested in this journey. I bet that could go on for more than 50 comics.

if you're looking for prompts to work from one of my favorite resources is the writing prompts tumblr + instagram account (they've also got dnd prompts) but they're simple enough that you can expand in any direction and usually pretty interesting

God's World was a short comic I wrote last year that would be under 50 pages if it had an equivalent page-version Premise is: adventuring party subdues a suicidal god to save the world :]

If you look through some entries from a short story contest Webtoon ran a few years back, you'll find more examples of comics around that length

HOLY SHIDD I HAVE THE SAME PREMISE
I'VE BEEN WANTING TO WRITE A GOOD ISEKAI PARODY FOR A LONG TIME CALLED "TECHNICALLY AN ISEKAI"
Although the similarity ends with the hell...I'm actually making him an A-hole and isekaing him to hell, just to have him wake up in level -39 of hell, and meeting a demon girl who turns out to be a former angel who was kicked out of heaven for seducing other angels. Then I'ma have them try to reach floor 0 from -39 and develop the guy and make him be responsive to his emotions and stop seeing people as tools as he passes each floor of hell with his squad of degenerate insane people who work together to escape their fate by changing themselves...the isekai to hell trope is smth we should hold on to because it's not overdone yet...

I can't do short stories...everything I'm working on has waaaaaay more than 200 novel chapters...but there is one thing I'm working on that wouldn't be as long called Bright
it's about a boy who one day wakes up in a completely dark world without a single light in it, he shrugs it up and starts moving around to find out where he's in. Somewhere out there, he meets a certain voice that decides to accompany him. They end up traveling together and talking about stuff like the philosophy of seeing, perspective and loneliness and other interesting ideas, he calls the voice "Faraway" because his voice is both far and near and changes between the two. One day the guy tells the voice "well, I don't really trust you yet, but you don't seem like the type to hurt me" then the voice says "Oh, are you sure about that" and suddenly the dark world lightens up like a switch was flipped, and the guy sees Faraway, who's this creepy looking monster with a long neck (that was why his voice was both far away and near, his neck was dangling around) then the guy freaks out, and it's revealed that Faraway can the turn the lights of the world on for 1 hour a day, and also change his shape from the monster to a normal person. So the guy begs him to become human-shaped and they end up traveling together, each part of the story focuses on one side of humanity or something interesting and fun to think about...although I don't think this would work in the form of a comic since it'll mostly be dialogue and a black screen

Hmmm ... neither, I guess? I wouldn't say it's comedic, but the suicidal character is portrayed from a bit of a distance as a 'god figure', who the protagonists are trying to save not because they care about him personally, but because they need him to stay alive so the world doesn't end :'D

Also it really is quite short; 104 panels, so probably not even close to 50 pages tbh ... 20 pages might be more like it XD This combined with his role in the plot means there really wasn't much space to empathise with him :'D

It's still in the flatting stage, but I'm making a VERY short comic that focuses on a character wishing on a magical artifact to undo all the "improvements" someone did; a person they once admired but no longer. It's no more than 5,6 traditional pages(it's scroll because I need to practice that more), and I focused on really telling as little as possible and working through flashbacks to build up a bit of a mystery.

I actually like the concept. I like writing character-driven stories about interesting psychological stuff and cool life lessons and great character development and some good world-building and good plot. I might hit you up for a collab novel one day

If you are stuck and trying to brainstorm an idea, think about things you like. People often make stuff based off if things they like.

So think of what your favorite animal is or what hobbies you enjoy. You could also make something based off a story in the public domain, like your own retelling.
