Hey everyone -- old time user here just looking for a bit of insight. I'm in the process of moving my old stories (as well as new ones and rewrites) onto a site I'm making myself, and am trying to create a forum/groups area for my readers, as well as just a nice place for all users/creatives to hang out and interact.

So I'm trying to look at different reading forums and see what people like to do/talk about besides self-promotion (which yes, I have an area for that too haha).

I'm thinking like maybe a bookclub that's voted on, or maybe prompts thought of by me and everyone else for like writing or choosing your next book or something?

I also want to feature like indie/online writers to kind of honor where I started writing (wattpad and A03, before trying Tapas) -- so if you write fantasy, get in touch! Maybe I can feature you on the blog

I've got lots of different groups and spaces set up for people to find each other like anime club, readers & writers of different genres, etc., and I'll be adding to them as time/interest goes on, but I want to also set up some activities to be doing in said groups/forums.

So yeah, does anyone have any ideas? Also, any feedback on my site3 would be greatly appreciated as its being held together with ducttape atm and I know I'm going to need to tune it up lol. Thank you!!

group games and stuff like that

Something that is done on the SH forums is review swaps and critique swaps that is super beneficial for bettering ones story. It also helps promote and find ones audience. Group games like leyelle said is good.
