What's the hardest part of drawing your comic

Hey guys GGY here!
Just out of curiosity, what's the hardest part when creating your comics?

For me it's definitely the backgrounds. I hate them perhaps because I'm sort of a perfectionist so I try to make my backgrounds very relative to my character's height, the lighting and all those annoying factors we don't pay much attention to in the real world until we draw these things ourselves and it just drives me c r a z y.

The page below took me awhile because It was my first time actually thinking about how everything looks in different perspectives. (It's my favourite page though.)

If I'm lucky I can pull off a blur background where I don't have to focus on detail so much and the comic still looks good

When creating my comic? Writing.

When drawing my comic... I find everything equally hard, more or less.

Everything... But the two things that always get me is hands, and lately since I started school again, making my characters head not so big...

Sometimes I get writer's block and I just do this thing where I stare at my screen for a while......

I hate coloring, but I still coloring my comic... it tortures me, but I still do it,
why I hate it? due of my color blindness, I can't just pick a color, I need a lot of ref and that's annoy me.
why I still do it? because TBH I love the final result despite my hatred when I colored it

Backgrounds are tough for me too. I force myself to include one or two in each strip for practice, but there's so much to keep track of perspective, composition, focal points, clarity, not having details (or the foreground) "fight" for attention etc...
The other thing that drives me crazy is line quality. Between my buggy tablet and terrible fine motor skills, it's a fight to get the lines I like.

Wow, that must be hard munazatoon. Painting while being colorblind must be a hell of a task. Is great to know you go the extra mile to improve your comic in every way.

I got an idea that may help you, but it only works on hand drawn comics. Put a tag of the exact color of a pencil. That way you wont have to search for references everytime you paint. Here is an example.

For me sometimes is tiring the coloring part, but from now, i will remember you as an inspiration.

I hate doing the rough linework. Everything else is easy but drawing the actual characters is a nightmare and takes forever.

I still struggle with perspective sometimes, particularly with organic forms. Foreshortening kills me. :C

Emotions and expressions. I generally use heavy tones and specific dialog to work around that, but I've never been good at facial expressions

characters and sketches, just cause I know most won't see the background and I can sometimes get a bit lazy on them, but characters, that's where people tend to look so I become very picky and perfectionist

Drawing backgrounds, and managing to have the characters in the right positions on the panels. (I have to constantly check to make sure I didn't have them teleport into a weird space).

I also have a specific character who changes his hairstyle all the time, so I've found myself drawing the wrong hair from time to time. haha.

yeah i did that a lot before move on to digital painting, always buy coloring pencils that had the name of its color for each of the pencils.. also always asking other people "what color is this?" haha

for digital painting, I use eyedrop tool to "steal" some colors from photos then play it around with saturation and brightness also with multiply/overlay layer... the "steal" part is what I hate, really envy people who just take the color from the wheel without "steal" on youtube

And writing dialogue so that they sound believable and accurate to the characters.

Well since I do traditional art, inking has to be my least favourite. If only because if I stuff up, there's no undo button.

For this past year, I've hated the penciling part of making my comic. It seems like it takes a LOT of energy for me to become motivated, to pencil up the page.

Inking, coloring, & lettering- doesnt bother me at the least- but I've always loved inking...I just wish I could figure out what it is that has me loathing penciling right now.
