My characters are either named after historical figures (such as H.P Lovecraft), fictional characters, or take names to reflect their monstrosity. My two main agents are Mr. Graves and Mr. Gears. Mr. Graves is Frankenstein's monster and Mr. Gears is a robot based off a historical event. Theres also an owl witch (Ms. Lechuza), Ms. Graves( Mr. Graves sister and a vampy) and a wraith (Mr./Ms. Torment).

Lech is old Polish name (one of the oldest) nowadays it doesn't have any meaning but from primeval slavic languages it means a king, or someone who's a ruller. There's also version that it comes from old Poland times and name Lech came from the word lścić which means to be clever or act insidiously.
Well this a little hard because I made up fantasy names, but lets get into how I made some of these names.
Rokuzo Barachi
Rokuzo is derived of the katakana-ized word for rose based off of google translate ROZU which I tweaked a bit to make it into what it is now. He has always been associated with plants, but roses in general due to their beauty and thorns. Which I think is accurate to who he is. An attractive and magnetic person, who has a dark past, and can be at times abrasive.
His last name also loosely translates to "Rose blood" although that actually phrasing for rose blood in japanese is Bara no chi.
Ahiko
So, I have actually met someone irl with this name which I think is really awesome! But Ahiko is a japanese name that means "beloved child." Although I didn't know her name was real at first when I named her. Originally, it was a variation of a nick name I had "kaiko" that I had changed a bit to make it into what is is now.
Ahiko has not last name due to being bastard born. It was common in older times that you would have no last name, or take the name of the city you were born. Like da Vinci who was born in/near Vinci.
Enossa Phey
My boyfriend really likes naming my characters, so I let him name her. He wanted her nickname to be Eno, which upon looking it up right now there are many managings in japanese kanji for eno. But I like the one for clever the most, as it is the most accurate to her.
He last name is a play on the word fae, because I see her as a mystical fairy folk, like that a fawns. after all, she is technically a type of fawn.
Aerith:
Aerith's name doesn't have a meaning as far as I know, but there's a final fantasy character called Aerith, so that's cool XD
Luci:
The name Luci gave off the same vibes to me as her character, but there's also the juxtaposition of her kind and childish yet mature personality and the fact that "Luci" can be short for "Lucifer", another name for the devil.
Hanako:
Hanako was actually my nickname for a while, it's a long story. Basically, when we were younger, my friends and I were obsessed with Warriors (that book series by Erin Hunter about cats) and we created our own clan and crap. My warrior name was something like Blossomwind, and Blossom roughly translates to "Kohana" or "Hanako" in Japanese. Hanako just sounded cool I guess XD. When I was looking for names for the characters, I immediately thought of Hanako because Hanako herself is partially a cat.
Hyacinth:
Hyacinth originally started as a character I played in a musical once, bur her character had changed so much in the development of the story that I decided that it would be fine to keep her name.

My MC name is Dragen, he has that name because he has no true identity other than the fact that he's a dragon. So as a young child he was given the name Dragen by his two childhood friends who watched him hatch. So until he has a true identity, Dragen is who he shall be
My MC is Aniro. Since the story is suppose to be a battle shonen novel based off of anime I played around with some words and got Aniro as a result. I took the words "Anime Protagonist" and shortened them together into one word.

Moriarty is a surname of Irish Origin and means 'Navigator' and 'sea worthy'. The story is shaped by their actions, they come from a fishing town. They have British & Irish ancestry.
Evan is of Welch origin and means 'young warrior'- fits his mischievous, boyish nature. Funny it also means 'right-handed' in Scots, while Evan is 'left handed'.
Owen is also of Welch origin and means 'young warrior' but also 'noble' and 'well-born'. He's a 13 year old & evolves into a hero with grand purpose.
Xún is a Mandarin Chinese Surname means 'to inquire', also saw it means 'swift'. Xun always takes an analytical approach. As the brothers' mentor he trains them to become observant. He's very swift in combat.

My main character's name is Pitch for three reasons.
When I was coming up with his name, I was thinking about how I would "pitch it" to people to make his story into a tv show.
In the book, his mother gave him that name because she thought he would be a singer
I settled on Pitch because it's a dark-sounding name, which fits because his story can be dark at times.
My main character's name is Kim Hodu!
Hodu means walnut in korean <3

Two of my main character, because they are twins, Perfida came from a telanovela that I used to watch few years ago and Perdita was from 101 Dalmation movie.
Perfida came from the word Perfidious which means deceitful but she's not.
Perdita is a Latin origin means Lost
Some of the characters names are Geek origin because of the space-age idea and the others are just made up.
Maor is my 'romanization' of 毛兒 (Mao Er), the chinese version of protagonist's name. To translate word-by-word it will be 'Fur Child'.
The 兒 'Er' is usually an honorific for kids, used by chinese parents. (it originates from China, but it's an old-school thing now) They usually have single names (not counting surnames) and they include 'er' after the name to sound intimate to the child. Not just for kids, Sometimes they even use to people they're very intimate with. If you watch Wuxia shows or ancient chinese dramas you'll know 龍兒， 過兒， 靖兒 (it's like how Japaneses include '-chan', '-san' , '-kun' after the name of people they talk with in a more comfortable intimate way)
Coincidentally, MAOR also means 'light' or 'luminary' in Hebrew.
My main character's last name is Dimayuga in Tagalog it means unshakable but I didn't think about the meaning of her first name when I chose it.
1) Era's last name is Vanaura which is a small nod to the late great artist Vincent Van Gogh.
2) Karo's last name, Caelus, is in reference to the Greek god of the sky of the same name
3) Cawdigon's name comes from how my parents said I use to say the word "Cardigan" as a toddler.
I found it funny so it stuck
I've always really loved the name Julian, so I sort of picked it on a whim. I like the idea that it means 'Youthful' although that's a bit antithetical to Julian's personality.
As for his last name; Rhydderch is a Welsh name meaning 'reddish-brown'. It's pronounced closer to 'Rutherkh', hence why he says people get his name wrong all the time.
