Honestly, I'm not a fan of a lot of attention, so popularity sounds awful. My comic specifically is rather dark, not child friendly and is pretty openly queer, so I can only imagine the backlash I'd get from all sides. Like, puriteens wanting it censored, folks who are extra B&W about "write from experience" wanting my entire trauma log before I qualify to create dark fiction, queer hating bigots thinking I'm distributing porn to kids. Not to mention you're under a lens all the time, the smallest mistake you make will blow up, and people will never let you get over it. 20 years later you could be a totally changed person, so much improvement, people will still bring the mistake up like you did it yesterday.
REGARDLESS, the most exciting thing to think about would be my comic would probably end up as a banned book, which those get their own brand of popularity due to just being banned. Like, people go out of their way to find those books just to see why they're on the list, there are also hard supporters... Also, I guess, getting enough money to pay off my bills would be nice. Lol
Really, I'd just be happy to finish my comic, self-publish it and distribute it to my own small reader base in my little corner of the world. Making it into an animated movie would be fun, I've fantasized about making a surprise film as a stretch goal during the final Kickstarter campaign, then it becoming some underground thing. Although I'd rather learn the skills to make the animation myself than go through a company.
