I didn't know what my dream job actually was until I got my current job. I do artistic edits, photomaniulations and so on in order to turn family photos (even very damaged ones) into special portraits. Generally these are portraits to memorialize people who have passed on: beloved grandmas, fallen soldiers, and etc. So, every portrait genuinely helps a grieving family and I have seen our portraits in friends' houses where they are treasured heirlooms. I might get a very very sad/tricky one of say, a child, and when I manage to fix the picture up I generally get very touching feedback from the parents (moreso to me since I am a mom). Stuff like that.
As you may imagine, most other artists who have tried my job cannot do it. There is a small core of us who are emotionally suited to it but other artists I know tried it and had to leave.
