What's Your Extra Content?

Hello everyone, I want to get the general consensus of any 'extra content' you guys do.
Be it QNA's, extra sketches between at the end of the chapters, or super unique types like... I don't know. You tell me!
Novel/Comic authors can both answer, but I'm expecting that usually comic authors make a lot more extra content.

Well I do extra content though I've been doing it outside of the comic, I'll probably share some artworks at some point BD

I added a bio of one of the characters in the recent chapter and plan on doing it for other characters. Hmm, I'd probably do QNA but when there's more people reading my story haha (I've done QNA but on deviantart, dunno if to add that yet)

QNA should be done when the readers already care about the characters so yeaah, at least I don't think I will do that right now.

I don't have many readers yet so I don't feel like adding that much extra content yet :0 Does anyone suggest me doing it anyway? Thoughh I'm curious as to why you're asking thiss, is it like gathering tips for what to add on yours?

There is an author's afterword that will be appearing in the print and e-book editions of Re:Apotheosis that will not be on Tapas.

And, the sequel will be serialized on Tapas, but when it's published elsewhere will have two additional stories in the anthology.

(Basically, added value for the print and e-book editions.)

Cool, doing a QNA offsite does seem to be a bit better, being that people have criticized the comments feature of tapas..
My motive? I just want to learn more about the different types of extra things people do for their comics. I might do it, but personally this question was brought on by me seeing extra content in someone's comic and wondering if it's a rarity around these parts.

That's an interesting strategy to incentivize people to check out the physical/other digital edition. I always like afterwords, love hearing the author talk about their process from their perspective.

What's been driving me crazy is that I own the publishing company, so I have review copies to send out to anybody who would review it on an external website. Only one person has ever taken me up on that (and their review is linked in the description).

Seriously, if you want a review copy, CONTACT ME! I can drop ship print copies around the world - I have literally budgeted for this!

Ohh I see, sounds reasonable! And yeah, you see, my readers were on deviantart thus the reason my QNAs where somewhere else instead of here haha, but I wouldn't mind doing some new ones if people would like to know later on BD

Hm? What do you mean people have criticized it? Likee what did you read them complaining on? :0 I might agree but I'd like to knoww

I've heard people say that there's no real incentive to comment other than either
A) Blank Praise
B) Story Theories, which usually just happen for the BIG BIG ones,
or C) Criticism
Which are cool and all, but if someone wants to send images they're screwed (Fanart, etc.)
...unless tapas updated and allows images in comments now..

I don't share a lot of the extra content in the comic itself but rather on my social medias and patreon.

Readers who are invested in the characters/story to be interested in the extras usually follow the creator's socials so I try to reward them that way (it also incentivizes readers to follow you across platforms -- don't put your eggs in one basket yadda yadda). The rest of the readers are more casual and not as invested, so the extra stuff wouldn't necessarily be of interest.

Some of the extra contents I share are character bios, before/after of a panel, concept arts, and character illustrations. I don't spend a ton of time making the extras, only when I have a bit of free time.

My first extra content was fan art, a total of 3 and it is uploaded to my comic as extra pages.

Currently, I am planning a second comic based on sci-fi and it will not focus on MC but on pure exposition, lore, and world-building. I am preparing to publish them by the end of next year or the year after that. To give info and content about them I uploaded them on my current comic "Mukhtar" alongside the pages as extras.

As for QNA, I am still thinking about it.

I do a lot of extra content xD In the begining I used to celebrate milestones with exclusive illustrations, i've made 2 Q&A already (my comic's 2 1/2 years old), I post every valentine's, every comemorative date in general if I fell like it xD

Than I have patreon, where I concentrate all the extra content for real. It's basically extra illustrations for now, but i've made short comic strips in the past and a special chapter for valentine's day that explains a bit of past story.

But as a rule, if there's a reason for me to spoil my readers with more piece of content, I'll do it. I love to do that, It's part of the fun of making my comic. But unfortunatelly for free I just post exclusive illustrations with a a bit of context/history behind and just in special ocasions (like the last one was in mother's day). I'm also always talking in the ~description~ area, when I can I drop info that didn't make to the comic yet but it's cool to know, so sometimes it's important to read my rant xD

My biggest extra thing (besides art) is I make and sing my own soundtrack for my novel which can be found on YouTube:

I might do a Q&A sooner after releasing December 1809, but what I do other than writing is drawing and making art. I'm not a comic artist, but my extra content is my artworks and anything that isn't part of the diary (except they're related to it).

I call them Miscellaneous episodes since they're not in the diary.

My extras are used for extra character/worldbuilding related lore! They're in a sketchy rough style which is easier for me to finish and I post them at the end of a chapter to give readers some interesting extra content to read while I'm on my end of chapter hiatus.

I find it's useful for including smaller stories that wouldn't have fit into the actual storyline- usually expanding on the previously finished chapter.

I also put illustrations/ref/sheets/sketches in that same episode at the end since I don't like having a lot of extras I find this is a happy medium where the story is nicely organised and the "interruptions" are where the story takes a pause anyway. I'd like to do a Q&A when I have more episodes out, but for now I'm too early into the story to do that in my opinion.

I don't generally do a ton of extras just because I don't want to interrupt the flow of the comic. But I've done a couple of QnAs. I generally start taking questions for them in the comments near the end of a story arc, and then post them as an intermission before the next one. I've also done a fanart feature, and posted character sheets (since my comic is DnD inspired it's a fun thematic way to share some character details).

For our comics, we have a ton of content outside of the stories. For example, we have an art series dedicated to all things Amazement Comics, and a character biography guide about all characters in our stories:

I do Q&A's after every arc where me and my artist talk with the audience.

I also do notes. Little journal entries that add to the world and foreshadow major events... although they're full blown episodes now.

I also show fanart...

I did this thing where I made credits for all the people who've subscribed to me. They scroll down and it's like an anime ED.

Finally, I plan on going the extra mile with the stick figure concept and make a YouTube channel. I had my artist do something so we have to wait until after this next arc for me to make it happen. It's basically sombrero stick figure me talking about random stuff :v

My previous YouTube channel didn't make sense, but now that I've gotten used to editing, I feel like people are going to love this one. Especially since it's themed after That Stick Figure Isekai.
