What's your favorite part of you comic creation process?

My favorite part definitely has to be line art because it's so mindless and its very satisfying haha. I can basically do something else completely while doing line art because my sketches are clean enough that I don't have to do much thinking when lining.
I also really enjoy the writing and scripting process, I love when I come up with a really good idea and can finally impliment it into the story!

What about you? What part of your comic process is your favorite?

The coloring of my pages definitely especially after the line art is completed and my characters and their world are sprung to life once I color them in!

My favorite part is when I finish a chapter and get to post it lol
But in more seriousness, I really like coloring. I have to put a lot of brain power into sketching, but once I’m past that things become a little more mindless and relaxing.

I love the scripting. I’m scripting for one of my comics and just learning what the story will be about through the scenes, dialogue, and characters brings me satisfaction. It’s like gushing out at a concert.

Adding the screen tones, it Just feels fulfilling when you give the pages the *manga vibes.

I agree about the line art. Drafting out the page is always the hardest part for me because it's so creatively draining lol so just drawing over it with the line art is simple and fun.
I like adding the speech bubbles because it's usually the finishing touch to a page and seeing everything come together is the best feeling for me.

Ok if I had to choose one it would probably be the writing the actual story and coming up with plot and dialogue and all that jazz. However, a close second is definitely sketching and thumbnailing. I love it 'cause things don't have to look perfect and the freedom you get from that is really refreshing!

Oh yes writing out the dialogue and seeing it work and flow so well is so satisfying. It means you’ve done a job well done. Dialogue is the hardest to do when writing a comic

Roughs after layouts. You can be super loose looking for the pose you want.

my favorite part has to be action scenes, i kind of feel like i have more freedom doing those then static poses

Thumbnailing: Although it's time consuming to have multiple drafts & revisions, but it's to get better final drafts. Feels accomplished when done good (and also the flow between pages too)

Inking: Inking traditionally is therapeutic. My inking style is semi-sketchy so I don't have to be meticulous on the lineworks. Feel great when it's good.

Convert shadings to screentones: This is the easiest & quickest process for me, many times it's enjoyable.

Thumbnailing/storyboarding is my thing. At that point I'm just playing with shots and trying to see how they 'sequence' out in my head. I draw them crappily (is that a word?) before I figure out how to 'build up' my characters with shapes. Occasionally, I'll make a character's expression that looks really weird or stupid but captures the emotion I want expressed better than painfully conforming to models/proportions. But I'm still learning...

On the other hand: I hate effin' coloring! Takes too damn long! Puts me in a bind! Used to color by brush! So stupid!

Traditional inks and coloring adds so much character to the comic and art! It looks great!

After thinking about this but I think my favorite part of creating the comic is just pacing around the room while I try to figure out how to connect up plot points. Like I have major plot points figured out all the way to the end, but not a lot of specific details. So at some point I need to figure out how to get from A to B. I pace around the room for several minutes at a time try to think through different possibilities. It feels like solving puzzle I made for myself when I figure out how to fill in the gaps in my story.

Sometimes the dialog writing process. I love writing a good joke. There's one that I'm going to draw the scene for soon that I'm really looking forward to.

(context: Ragna is very small)

Ravening: "You're seriously going to fight her?"

Ragna: "Yeah. Why wouldn't I?"

Ravening: "Oh, I don't know maybe because shes a 10 foot tall mountain of sexy muscles with a giant fuck-off sword and you're a childs medium ."

Ragna: "... what the fuck does talking to dead children have to do with anything? And who said I can talk to dead children!?"

oh hecc no I hate lineart T_T It always gives me an existential crisis, like 'why am I even doing this when my sketch is already readable', to the point where I just straight up eliminated the step from my comicking process lmao :'D

Same The best part is when I feel an overwhelming urge to express an idea or emotion, and I write a scene/some dialogue that describes what I want to convey. I find it very therapeutic; it's free venting, and unlike venting verbally to a person I don't have the fear of being judged while also having the satisfaction of being able to turn these words into something useful/entertaining, rather than it all being lost to the aether XD
