That's like choosing a baby since songs are where I get my ideas from. I constantly use shazam in public whenever I hear a song so I can walk around for thirty minutes and brainstorm ideas based on the lyrics (or beats).

Here are the ones that I can't help but nerd out over.

^ This song I WANNA say actually planted the seed for the style I have now believe it or not. It made me realize that I'm into off-beat stuff with lots of twists and turns starring characters with unusual personalities/mannerisms. You can enjoy the story for the silly visuals, or you can try to figure out what's REALLY going on (kinda like this video). Spoilers: the video is about a guy tripping out on drugs :v. This took me like twenty watches for me to get it. This had a strong impression on me as a kid.

^ I love how this song talks about the struggles of discrimination and being worthy in a soulful manner. 3:12-3:30 is so powerful. Just hits you like a hammer every time I listen to it (I recommend listening through it all before seeing what I'm talking about).

^ A lot of people I knew thought this song was about a woman (including me), so I was shocked that this song is actually God making a love song to humanity. I look back at this song whenever I try to implement Christian themes into my comic because he sums up Jesus's point in three minutes. There's also SO MUCH DETAIL that Prince packs in this song that it's brilliant.

^ This song has some of the rawest lines about death and the afterlife in the streets. The line alone about you meeting people you never learned to love in life made it for me.

^ Throwing a fun one to mix things-up. Love how Malcom makes a modern remix of Carmen by having the singer outright sing her intentions in this cool, slick way. Like she thinks she's "all-that". Love how they incorporate the original song.

I have more, but list will grow WAY TOO BIG lmao. While I am a writer, music is in my bloodstream.

depends on my mood and such but currently the song that has been following me aorund the most and gives me the good vibes is this one:

but for REAL theres a lot and theres some songs that are important to me due to time periods in my life but thoes seem more personal then overall favories so :sweat_02:

I have a lot of fond memories of the time me and my friends discovered the internet and constantly sent ourselves the coolest videos and songs we could find. Now, I listen to a variety of genres, but Skillet was one of the first bands I found among those, which heavily influenced my general taste in music from there on out and listening to it every once in a while over the course of years, it got that very special place in my heart!

Collect Call by Metric is just... beautiful. It's a song of yearning for connection and love so hard and the emotion in the voice, and the way the instrumentation create this soundscape that sweeps you up in it- like the character in the song is choosing to be swept up in a fantasy she's built around a passionless relationship, and wants to just be swept along like a "lazy dancer".... What a song!

I don't have a single one. But listing them all would kill the thread.

So here's five that I always turn up loud when it comes up on shuffle or on the radio.

Shanghai Honey - Orange Range

I wish I could explain what it is about this bit of early Aughts Japanese bro-rock that has me cranking up the headphones and hitting the repeat button. Maybe it's the idea that I could do this at karaoke if I practiced for a few weeks?

Thunderstruck - AC/DC

I mean, c'mon? Does the joy of Thunderstruck need explaining? Do you need me to tell you how good oxygen is too? TBH I'd probably fill up a huge list of faves with AC/DC alone...

Buggin' Out - ATCQ

If you're not down with the Tribe then we can't be internet buddies. Sorry, I didn't make the rules. Listen to that bass. Listen to that opening verse, which... hot hip-hop take... is better than Inspectah Deck's opening to Triumph

Step Into a World - KRS-One

The Blast Master was at the top of his game when he dropped this. The flow is amazing. The lyrical skills are as heavy as the kick drum in the song. There's a reason KRS-One is always in the running for the GOAT conversations.

We Need to Talk - The Jadu

Because it dropped when I was young and in love and I'm really just a big old softy.

Not especially a song but "To Pimp a Butterfly" has only bangers and I'm obsessed (expect zuzu love, this track was kind of ass)

This is tough, but I love stuff like this.

Prince - Bambi

One of the best vocalists and guitarists of all time and this track highlights both... and he was only 20! Unreal talent.

The Black Dahlia Murder - What a horrible night to have a curse

Played drums because of this song. There is a chapter named after it in my comic. I could listen to this entire album (Nocturnal) forever. I always liked metal but this album got me into much heavier and faster stuff. I needed MORE!

and finally...

Lady Gaga - Bad Romance

Its bad romance. I don't really think I need a reason lol. 10/10 all time banger.
