Purely from a curiosity basis (because there's a thread going around about cattlepunk), what's your favourite -punk to read/write/create?
Most of you are probably most familiar with cyberpunk (and postcyberpunk, it's less grim dark cousin) and steampunk but these are actually just the tip of the iceberg.
Personally, I'm quite fond of some clockpunk (introduced to it by Clockwork Planet and woking loosely on a clockpunk comic just because of the designs tbh) and a bit of cybernoir (because who doesn't love some neon lights and dark gritty noir mixed together?).
Anyone who needs a guide (and you might be surprised to find some stuff your familiar with, like say The Flinstones, is punk after all) although this is by no means a complete list:
And the TV Tropes which has a wider list and perhaps an easier definition in plainer language:
But TL:DR version is:
- A world built around a particular technology that is pervasive and extrapolated to a highly sophisticated level.
- A gritty or transreal urban style.
- A cyberpunk-inspired approach to exploring social themes within a Speculative Fiction setting.
So, what's everyone's favourite punk? Is there any you'd like to do one day? Any comics in these genres you'd like to share with the world (or at least the forum)?
