I've noticed that on webtoons is much less reades. Even promoted canvas series have much less new coming subscribers.
What's going on? Where all of those people go? New app? Or idk. Do you know anything about it?

Pandemic provided an excess of both readers and artists. Only the readers have moved on.

Also Zoomers are entering adulthood and have less time to see if senpai will finally kiss Protag-kun.

yeah, but before pandemic also was much more readers, or it was less comics and more people read it also could be true.
maybe zoomers are growing up but they're not the only one group of people in the world and not the last generation.

I have had trouble with gaining readers on Webtoon. My theory is…

  • large quantity of series makes it harder to stand out
  • a larger international reader base, so comics that might appeal mainly to Americans might struggle

Two theories:

1) webtoons are dying. Videos are the way to go because need far less attention span to watch vs read. And don't get me started on public schools and reading...

2) they're too busy reading big professionally drawn webtoons. If you can't draw like a pro these days, don't expect to gain popularity.

Well, I believe Weebtoon has lost its boom after several years

  • There is currently this need to consume only Korean or very popular series that aren't officially translated yet
  • With that comes that people don't want to wait nor pay to unlock chapters, therefore they go to piracy sites
  • There is a huge amount of translated series and Indie content is less and less promoted
  • Webtoon had a lot of issues with their contracts and how shitty they treat their Original authors, the unrealistic standards and requirements before cancelling a series
  • Webtoon LATAM became a trainwreck after having literally no maintenance, Original LATAM authors are paid half of what USA/ENG authors make
  • The "Side-Hustle" controversy
  • Newest generations are used to streaming, therefore binging a series is their normal, they are not used to wait weekly or bi-weekly for a new episode of a series, therefore anything slower than their own personal interest is dropped.

I feel like this as well. Between shitty to nonexistent monetization for creators who spend a lot of time creating their comics- a lot of creators are fed up with the reciprocal feedback and either have A) created their own sites to try to garner audiences on their own(or team up with other creators in an old fashioned "webrings" sort of collaboration) or B) start trying to promote themselves through their Patreon, IG, Ko-fi and other sites.
