I've been on Wattpad since 2014. I have another serial web novel already there for over a decade. I had my current kpop romance on Kindle Vella, Radish, and now Tapas. I'm a bit burned out on the platforms right now. Going to take "Love Over Kpop" and rewrite it into a novel with chapters. I think it is finally ready, and I'll publish through KDP and D2D. I have a following already with ebook readers. I tried Patreon, but it didn't really take off. I could go to REAM or Inkitt, but it just seems more work to build a community and following all over to have the plug pulled on it again.
This is the third platform I've written on that has folded. So, I'm kinda done on serial writing for awhile. Going to direct my energy back onto ebooks and print editions. I actually make money that way. Granted, it's more like cups of coffee and a nice dinner a month.
I didn't get up to the 100 subscribers on here to start getting paid. So, mostly my experience has been a lot of people hopefully discovering me as an new author. Just like a big promo for my pen name. That's what I'm going to take away from all of this now. And oh yes, at least I got to be a part of a creator community for awhile again.
As far as why Tapas is shutting down, there is so much speculation online. But from what I can tell, no one really knows why. They are claiming it was losing money or not making expectation. I guess it might all come out in the next few weeks as everyone absorbs the news and start jumping ship for other platforms. I saw it happen with Radish. It's actually pretty sad to watch a vibrant site go stale.
Wish you all the best!
