Which Character of Yours Would Be the BEST President? ... Which One Would be the WORST?

Thought this question would be fun (PLEASE keep jokes/references about real world politicians to yourself for the love of GOD). Which character in your story would be the BEST president? Which would be the WORST? I'll go first :v

This one made me do some thinking because I already have a perfect character in my comic: Lilith (the chick in the image). She'd keep the economy up, solve world hunger, dismantle bombs, have puppies and cats shake on it. That sorta stuff.

The WORST president. Wouldn't be Naota or Nikado... or Tizoc it'd be Nancy. She'd be the type to ramp up security and start shady programs. She's very paranoid and will do ANYTHING for peace. Straight up, given the opportunity, she would start a Suicide Squad program with the isekaiers. The funny part is that the government tracks isekaiers down with black magic... she'd be making deals with beings beyond our comprehension.

The worst and the best would be the same person in my case. To avoid spoilers (since it is not a novel yet released) she is basically a villain with psycopathic tendencies. She is a genious with no remorse in killing people but she understands statistics better than anyone. Making her president could go both ways she could basically become a mesiah or a world ending president. It is a really complex character which makes her so fun to write about.

Hahaha, I mean... my comic is literally one where a guy makes himself King and the other characters are trying to usurp him, so... we kind of have some literal examples here...

Worst, as we legitimately see in canon because he's King and he's the villain having made himself King.... Urien Ellis:

On the surface, Urien seems like a good guy for the job. He's a good public speaker, he's handsome and fashionable, he has amazing hair, and he's fairly intelligent.
...Problem is he's also extremely vain, opportunistic to the point where he doesn't think ahead about the consequences, unwilling to take responsibility for bad things, instead always blaming others, gaslighting and changing the subject. He loves the part of being in charge where he gets to be the centre of attention and have everyone fawn over how powerful and important he is...and then would rather have somebody else do the thankless hard work. He's also very emotionally driven and will make bad choices based on fear or jealousy. Basement tier president, even if he does rock the look.

Sitting firmly in the mid-tier, but worth mentioning because they're the one actually campaigning to replace him... we have his younger sibling, Jules Ellis:

Jules is frankly, not really suited to being a monarch or a president, and it's kind of a testament to just how bad Urien is at his job that anyone would even consider it. The area where Jules would be excellent at the job is that they are a cautious and practical planner who always thinks ahead, and they genuinely care about looking after people's welfare.
The...er...problem is that Jules isn't much of a diplomat or politician; they're typically autistic in socialising, with a tendency to be very blunt or to come off tonally inappropriate for the situation, and they find people tiring. About the closest they can get to an appropriate persona for politics is "acting like a supervillain". Again... Mid-tier.

So who's the actual best president in Errant?
I've actually always thought it would weirdly be Rekki Lune. Of course, she's out of the running to be a monarch, being not an Excalibur candidate, but...

Rekki always leads by example. She'd never get you to do something she didn't think you could do, and she'd never waste your time or your life for no reason. If she can fight the monster herself, she'll do it. Yes, she does have a bit of a tendency to try to take on all the problems herself all the time, but hey, she's at least a very responsible person who owns up to her mistakes! She's a strong leader, and when she gives an order, people do tend to follow it. She's a bit of a fashion disaster, but she has a lot of presence. She's not incredibly crafty, but she's smart and humble enough to listen to people smarter than she is, and I think this down-to-earth quality would make it a lot easier for her to relate to ordinary working class types than people like Sarin or Jules with their high ideals and convoluted plans.

So I'm going to vote Ketchup-Head for Prime Minster of Britannia here. Elrekia Lune is the winner!

From best to worst:
Qamar, straightforward rational person, good listener, aims to help people incredibly level headed. Struggles with drugs but I hear that's not uncommon for presidents.
Najm, I am not totally sure how this would pan out, they don't have much internal motivation but they are incredibly strategic and manipulative at times. If there was someone else pushing them into the right motives they'd be very good. But most of their internal motivation is focused on baking, traveling, painting, and kissing their partner.
Alya: does want to do genuine good, not great with boundaries, most likely to actually become a president because they actively want to be making big changes, I think on their own they'd make a pretty dystopia serveylence state, but they also have Najm around to keep them level headed. So basically together they'd make the best president.
Rahat: Anarchy. No laws, every man for himself. Basically would take all the money they could, put it into making the best rocketship ever, then fuck off and leave the mess to someone else. It's a very good thing that Rahat has the spine of an eclair because there would be havoc if they were in charge of anything.

My answer to both would be one of my side characters, Murphy. He also happens to be my favourite character to write.

is too soft and introverted to be a leader. she's too sympathetic that it clouds her judgement on what's best for a certain situation. also, she struggles with taking decisions so uh 🤷‍♀️

on the other hand, this other character of mine let's call her Lilly

is a bit more rational and not easily swayed by emotions. she is soft spoken but can be harsh when needed. she is independent and self-reliant a little bit too much because she refuses help when needed and that causes her mental distress. lilly doesn't like taking care of others unless you're a certain someone so no not a good president!

... why I can't think of any that would be a GOOD president?
Okay, let's start with the worst.
My main character, Kestrel.
No diplomation skills AT ALL, she'd probably unintentionaly start a war. And she doesn't make long-term plans. She'd steal as much as she can from the treasury and finances that were supposed to go somewhere else, and then suddenly run away one day, leaving everything in chaos.

Mid-tier aka 'it's good as long as it's good' : Karamanczi & Ellie
Let's start with Karamanczi. He's very passionate about his projects, so he'd try to make everything better- economy, infrastructure, education, you name it. His main focus are alternate sources of energy. Everyone's living conditions would get better. Unless something goes wrong, and a lot of things can go wrong, because for him the ends justify the means. He would steal from other countries or sacrifice people if he thinks that it leads to a greater good in the end. He can admit to being wrong but sometimes it's just too late.

Now, Ellie. She's already in a position of power in the comic, and she's learnt how to be reponsible and diplomatic. Most of the time she can fairly judge, knows how to separate her emotions from what has to be done (again, most of the time), can make her own decisions but also actively listens to advice. The thing is, she won't shy away from abusing her power to threaten people to get what she wants and she's also very vindictive. So if everything goes fine she'd be a good president, but if something goes wrong she can easily turn into a tyrant.

Now I have to think of anyone that would be good

Claudita would be the best president even if she had absolute power and the government is a totalitarian communist one.
Because no selfishness and corruption factor involved, the communist utopia on paper that Marx said would really be a utopia.

But in a constitutional republic or democracy, she would be constantly advocating for the rights of the underdogs in society as well as limiting the expansion of government power in order to oppress and control. The freedom of speech and right to keep and bear arms are there to keep the tyrants at bay.

Because afterall... Democracy is one step away from tyranny according to Plato.

Cedrick would be the worst. The goal is the creation of a totalitarian world government because humans cannot be trusted with liberty...

BEST:
Blake Blossom from Crow’s Worth
- He shows that he can take on a leadership role and he cares about helping social minorities. And like every politician, he has baggage that his opposers would constantly bring up to discredit him.

WORST:
Shoo-Fly from Crow’s Worth
- I mean…he can’t write, he doesn’t wear shoes, he’s a hippy, into open/poly relationships, and there is something just off about him. He feels like a candidate that a smaller fringe party would nominate and the populist would laugh and make memes about him.

I don’t think any of my characters would make a good president tbh but I will still attempt to range them from worst to best.
Wren: He’s very very unstable, he should definitely not be made president as he changes his mind from one second to the next.
Luke: He’s quite smart and a great planner, but he’s got way too many personal issues to actually do the job properly, and has zero diplomatic abilities. He would probably use all the resources for his own personal vengeance This probably makes him a horrible candidate lol
Ellie: is very naive and way too trusting, also not very confident around people. She would just believe everyone at face value. Tho she could probably step up when needed to.
Artemis: She’s very level headed, diplomatic and can take charge easily. But she does let others sway her at times and hides her true feelings.
Skully/Crow: Might not seem like the best candidate, but is actually a pretty good leader. He might be a bit rash, but he listens and is not afraid to take charge.

The best would probably be Zenix! As he's very calm under stress and always looks out for whats best for his team. He may not always make the right decesion but he's always open to fixing his mistakes. He's just overall a really good guy.

The worst would be ranger. Ironically he's the next in line for the throne of Buckleburge. He's Brash and insensitive. He's sexist and classist. Honestly just a down right terrible person. He believes that the poor are doomed to suffer and there's nothing you should do to help them. He only cares for his own well being, often putting others down so he can succeed.

An Honorable mention for Huevo. But I'd say he's too young to be king, he has alot to learn about before he could be a good ruler. But he has the makings of a very fine leader/ruler. He's kind and understanding. He always makes an effort to talk to others, understanding them and making sure they feel welcome. Plus he's an amazing cook!

Nia, 'cause she's already the team's manager, if anyone in this comic (so far) can be responsible and keep a bunch of morons (affectionate in case of the team, derogatory in case of politicians) in check - that's her.

Worst:

Moth, 'cause she's not interested, does not have the mental spoons for this, and would just peace out somewhere quiet the second she's asked to decide some important crap. Not her problem, no thanks.

Probably the best character to be president of the four would be Pear. Because at least with Pear, he’s very innovative and scientifically sound. So I could see him focusing on issues of climate change or working on bills to initiate solar energy projects. Maybe also reduce fossil fuel emissions as well.

And the worst character to be President would perhaps be Orange? I could see him slacking off with such duties. He’d probably want everyday to be a 4/20 type day (just kidding with that last part XD).
