Which Genre do you specialize in?

Using real life experience to enhance your comic makes life a little easier for you. I haven't delved into horror becuase I don't know how to creep people out. One question though what is "macabre"?

I think its okay to write BL / Yaoi as long as the romance between the characters and the plot has some substance I think they wouldn't mind unless they are homophobic. You could also write something that is generally accepted by most readers art is the field where you must adapt after all.

I do the same with my romance as well where I like to ship certain characters and convince the reader to ship them too.

Yes, I am aware. I myself dislike most PWP as I always look for substance and depth, which are what I also apply in my works and I'm happy that my readers notice too. My family is homophobic, unfortunately. Yep, I am trying to find a concept that would appeal to most readers, just as I mentioned earlier, but I suck at that. ^^; It's like I'm a natural when it comes to things related to BL, gay romance and horror.

I'm definitely very happily situated in fantasy. I kind of want to write about Sparta some day, but so little is known about it (and what is known about it is so darn cool) I feel like it also fits more into the world of fantasy and mythology than "historical fiction"... I don't really know how to write a good story about real life. d: I haven't had much experience with romance yet but I think that would be the next one I'd be okay at. I really like romance and I'm going to try writing some soon (sort of), so I'd better be good at it... :')

I'm worst at horror because I hate scary things so so much! I'm probably not that great at comedy either. I can sort of do okay putting in tiny elements of mild humour? But I'd never be able to write a gag comic or a comedy or whatever. It only works for me if I don't try too hard. XD

That perfectly described the comic I wrote. It wasn't exactly what I was going for, but it still turned out to be good so far. I like what @kurapikasuki says here:

Even though I set off to write a certain genre, I just want the story to be entertaining for me and others.

A blend of science fiction, fantasy, romance, and adventure is my favorite thing in the world, and is the genre of The Parallax Cycle. I've also written horror and supernatural, but those stay in short story format. I'm hoping to convert them to comics one day.

I struggle with comedy and slice of life. I can't even begin to understand how people come up with a good joke!

I can't say I really specialize in any since I'm hoping to dabble in a ton of different genres. Right now, though, I guess it would be Action/Mystery?

Slice of life romcoms! And fantasy comedy sometimes. Saccharine, corny luuuuv and "life happens" is my thing.
On the flipside I can't do "serious" fantasy or horror. I'm too silly to write something grimdark (which is everywhere, kind of like skinny jeans). I also don't really do well with scifi, I've found it needs much more detailed art than I have the time and commitment for. Fighting and sports stories are also so far out of my interest orbit they might as well be Pluto, so none of that as well.

Sci-fi! Most definitely sci-fi. And maybe comedy. That's pretty much all I've been exposed to since my childhood. So much Star Trek, Star Wars, Stargate, Calvin and Hobbes, and other weekly comic strips :3 I love letting my mind leave this world, and exploring all the things that people haven't thought of yet ^u^ b

I really struggle with slice of life tho. I really find it hard to think of things that normal people experience, and write a story around it. I hate real life drama, and so it's really hard to incorporate that into stories because I've distanced it from myself so much XD

Someone the forum said not to try to hard with making the joke funny. That what I do with my parody comic Seishin Patona Parade, I just drew what I thought was funny.

Action is a genre I worked for as long as I have been a comic artist however, mysteries I haven't really meddled in.

Action is my forte I am your opposite. Slice of Life, Romance and Comedy I have little experience in. If I were to ever do a romance I would do a dramatic romance because I am more of a serious person.

Sci-fi x fantasy, I like to create things that aren't very realistic.

Sci-Fi I add a touch of it to my comic Seishin Patona where one side of the world is futuristic while the other side modeled off feudal Japan. As far as including real life drama just thing of as problems your characters face. For example your character killed his first person and he is grief stricken. Even though this is something that is rare in real life the emotions are real.

people tell me im good at horror even tho i consider myself good in these two genres: Dark Fantasy and Romance.
Honestly nothing of what i do is actually horror

I dont have one genre that really mess me up but if i had to say i would say comedy
