Who was your inspiration for your main character?

Oh! My main character is named Taylor. She... doesn't have anyone I was inspired by! Unless you count normal, every day people? I wanted to put a normal person in a horrible, unlikely situation and see how it turned out. What I ended up with was Taylor. :'D

Edit: By 'normal' I mean people like you and I! Not anime, or book or fictional personalities. Real personalities. So she is an entirely real person in a fictional world and she... acts about how one would expect her to act. XD

My main protagonist from Marked Kenta Orune is not really based on anyone, he is actually based on himself. I probably can't give much out for spoilers sake but I made the "original" Kenta Orune quite a while back for other projects, but Marked was the first project that was his very own.

At the beginning my main character has a bland personality, he is like a clean piece of paper. He is nothing. But as the story moves he meets different characters. The characters are crayons of different colors, leaving marks on the blank paper, shaping the main character into something unique at the end.

Harvey from Paisley Brickstone was originally inspired by protagonists in general who are White, Male, and saving people who are not white and male. His original backstory was basically a major rip on Avatar because of the whole "White dude who isn't even from this planet is prophesized to save the planet". There was a female bug alien necromancer who was going to end up being the true hero. I'm still planning on doing this spoof in the future (all the stories I write are supposed to kinda be based in the same universe, just in different dimensions)

My main character in POW! Right in the Nostalgia, Charlotte....

...was actually originally based on a part of me actually.

Almost all of my cast were based off aspects of me.

Charlotte though originally was the part of me that loves all things video games. Ranting on the bad stuff, enjoying the good stuff. (Her favorite game is the NES game StarTropics.)

The other main character, Chase...

...was the part of me that was focused on the toy industry. What Hasbro, Mattel, and others made or did...

Basically all my characters represented a part of my likes and dislikes of different things. Video games, toys, anime, music, comics...

Over time they all evolved into their own beings though as you'd expect.

Grant Gustin I had a huge crush on him , he has the face of a baby angel face and I download his pics , he's Barry Allen role on Flash that he was also a forensic Scientist so I gave Luke almost same traits as Grant Gustin - looks and some of his persona and Barry Allen - his job and his awkwardness including Sebastian Symth- his snarky attitude and his cunning also he can insult people also dancing and singing

Almost all of my characters in JODDAS VAPD is based on a friend who helped mold my interest in drawing comics. The main character is based on me obviously, and I have his eyes covered because of my phobia of people looking at my eyes.

For No Future's main character, visual wise, is all real life insperation.

I based half my main character's hair style (that's it, just the hair style, not the colour, I let my little sister pick the colour, which I should have known before asking would be blue, because that's her favourite colour) off a 'spiky head' art friend (who would keep it down styled at the front, but spikey in the back) I had and used to share convention tables with waaaay back when we were first starting conventions (he pretty much still styles it this way after all these years) This was a really long time ago, and it was pretty funny because when the designs for Noctis came out (under the FF13vs name) no one could get over how similar the two looked, he even did cosplay of him because both his looks and his 'usual style of hair' where so friggen spot on for him. (I won't post pictures of him cause that's weird, and it's been yeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaars so we don't really have connections anymore)

Second half of insperation for the brushed back more than up spiky hair part of the look, is how my younger brother spiked his own hair, he would style it via gel and put the hose of mom's huge as heck shop vac on the air blowing end instead of the air sucking one. (she worked janitorial, she used a huge heavy duty industrial powerful vacume) and have it just blow all his hair back in a violent shop vac powered blast of air, resulting it in kind of a aiming backward and up instead of just up, and then stay that way.

Personality is a completely different story, though that also all has stuff pulled from real life.

(I seem to get a lot of 'he reminds me of Sasuke' comments for him. I wonder if that was the 'insperation' for my friend's choice in hairstyle)

My guy, Norvin from Black Forest Deep, is kind of drawn from a few characters but he's mainly developed originally for the story.

Originally he was gonna be more of a scoundrel based off my orphan witch character I made for a Pathfinder but I ended up reworking him entirely.

His hair is definetaly based off of Link from The Wind Waker. Also a bit of his clothing.

I think some of it must also come from Hiccup from How to Train Your Dragon,especially the body proportions and some both characters are kind of the same archetype, the brains over brawn, nonviolent dork character.

Except instead of dragons, he uses magic.

I don't generally or consciously base characters off of others, not that I can recall. But for Suck it!! when I was still just imagining scenes in my head during high-school and didn't have the leads' designs, there were other characters influencing how they appeared and acted.

I think I was probably reading Death Note at the time cuz when I was picturing this role who always sits in a fetal position, L would come to mind.

With the heroine, it was a bit more direct. When picturing her, an energetic sporty girl, I kept visualizing Chizuru from Kimi ni Todoke. So that ended up contributing a lot. Also the silhouette I was going for with her first outfit was totally influenced by Neku from The World Ends With You... but she changes outfits plenty so that's irrelevant.

My main character is like a non-white mix of Steven Wilson and Dennis Nilsen. And yeah that's on purpose, specially the Dennis Nilsen part.

My main character, Alice from Malleus Maleficarum, wasn't inspired by any particular person. But the fact that she was dragged into another "fantasy land", soon to be surround by strange side characters and having to fend for herself... I always thought it was a bit Alice in Wonderland in that regard. Not to mention the name "Alice" and the blonde hair. This was not a connection I made till I finished the story lol. Derp.

Well, I know for my 4 dorks in Elementum Draconis was heavily inspired by different types of culture and nature itself. Yue Yin was based off a mixture of Japanese and Chinese culture. Nova based on European dragons and generic mages. Kaimana was based off of Polynesian culture and a Final Fantasy White Mage. Emerald was based of Paladins, Knights, Gem formations and some Middle Eastern culture. In short, a loooooooooooot of research went into these dorks.

The design for my main chararcters from I am the King are based on and kpop group called Bts 😂 When imagining the story id always see their faces and thats how id draw them, and thats what I got used to seeing. I thought of the outfits myself though ^^ A friend helped me develop their personalities, backstories and names so I want to thank her greatly for the help! This character, Sun, is based off Min Yoongi ^^"

The main character in my main series is a multidimenional squid. Can't really pinpoint where the personality or character comes from, but the appearance is loosely based on Spencer Husselmeyer from Bud Grace's Piranha Club comic.
