I need to discover any brave authors out there who still continue to write and draw even though they hardly have any views or recognition. Consistency like that is incredible!

I've only been here for a couple months, but I get the feeling my story is not very marketable at all. Still, I wanna get it to as many people who might enjoy it, plus I just want to write it for its own sake. So... Here's my link!

Well, someone I've always admired is Morag Lewis, AKA Sunkitten. She's been making stuff for years, not just on Tapas, but in print too, far pre-dating Tapas even existing, and has always been a huge supporter of UK manga artists. She doesn't really mind that her audience isn't huge, because she's happy in her day job as a molecular biologist (awesome).

Her comics and novels are seriously pretty enjoyable reads too. I actually cosplayed one of her characters once (Kite from Looking for the Sun at a con a long time ago that she was also attending) because I've always thought she's a really underrated creator.

When I look at her output, how much content she's made, and how she doesn't really care about popularity, I really feel humbled. It really takes just such a cool person to do that.

I have been on the site since 2016 yet I still haven’t even hit the 250 sub bench mark for any of my series. Tho I have been making webcomics since 2012.

I generally just like making comics. I am a socially awkward person and writing comics is sort of how I express myself. I love coming up with characters and having them do stuff.

I wish I could get more readers and subs but I feel like I am too much of an awkward mess and I suck at social media.

something tells me that whoever that is doesn't use the forums
but it also doesn't help that people tend to sub to comics that have more subs, assuming the worst out of comics with fewer subs.
I myself have been posting on tapas for a little over a year and have a little over 50 subs

But you can find some pretty niche comics if you go into the fresh section, there are quite a few that have 0 likes and 2 subs even though they're incredible

I'll probably make myself sound like a martyr :see_no_evil: But hey, since you're asking!
My new comic (started in February) is at 7 subs on Tapas and 5 subs on Webtoons. You'd think I don't advertise. Well, I do! Also, my first comic (started in 2016, released something like 130 pages) is at 71 subs on Tapas (and removed from Webtoons for being too mature). I guess I'm simply not meeting readers' expectations.

Keep at it man, you're a strong and consistent author, your story will get more recognition the more you upload maybe not tremendously crazy like 1 million in a day but slowly and surely, I promise you, if there's one thing readers like more than quality it's consistency! (P.s sorry for late reply, dead battery and life is pretty busy.)

2012 and 2016 is a long time, but after looking at your profile I can see you at least have some sort of fan base, plus you said you enjoyed working as an author so it pretty much win, win in this case.

Even without the forums, a person will eventually get some recognition the more they upload, and at least you've got some sort of fanbase regardless, but all in all I hear you, and yeah the low view comics are great!

Don't give up, the point is you got some readership, and if not just keep up the hustle, if writing or drawing is something you truly enjoy doing, stick with it because following your passion is one of the things that makes life beautiful!

I don't really have a fanbase. I have readers, but I don't have people drawing fanart or following me on social media or any of that stuff.

Same here man, but we got to keep working until Someday we get one, just don't give up and write the story to the best of your abilities make it as engaging as possible!

I love this artist, he should have 10 times the subs at least.

Started on 2016~ Still working on my series even though i'm not popular as from other successful comic artists, i still continue making it since I love the characters and story~ <3
