Great thoughts everyone, and do note that sometimes I think creators just need to rant, so keep that in mind =).
I would add, though, that a couple of you illustrated some of my points accidentally (although maybe I read between the lines).
@shazzbaa Although doing pure math here, out of the 88 comics I read, not many have tipping enabled and most update once or twice a week, so it's not asking NEAR so much time. The newspaper argument is a bit rough because I'm supporting them by purchasing the newspaper, but your point is valid that most people will view it that way. Good thoughts.
@punkarsenic I think my thoughts were that you wouldn't need to binge watch ads, and that low tips are still great.
@LordVincent I totally agree, but at the same time is asking for less than a penny for an update really asking that much (if I'm right, 10 coins is valued at about 0.8 cents).
@mongL You brought up a great point about other uses for coins that I hadn't considered. But you also mentioned "saving up coins" to tip, when my thoughts were that 10 coins would make me such a happy camper.
@GoneForever Definitely true! But then again, where else in life is there free entertainment like reading a webcomic? The whole economics of webcomics is very interesting.
@FleurRene I'm with you there, lately on the app I get ads but I'm not getting coins for them.
And again, thanks to everyone for their feedback. I do think there's interesting psychology that in general, I think we all feel like tipping something low like 10 coins is almost insulting ... which typically results in us tipping nothing.
