Will you make a sequel of your comic if it was a major success?

Will you draw a sequel comic with completely new characters? Or just end it for real and move onto a new project?

If there is a story to tell, yes.

I wouldn't make a sequel for money if there is no ideas to make, I will make a new story not related to my first successful comic but it is set in the same universe but perhaps different timeline, or system.

God forbid me from milking a comic I use to love making.

I know what I would make as a sequel to Errant.... But whether it's a good idea is another story!

I'd probably want to take a break for at least a while though to make something else with new characters and a different vibe. I love Errant, but there are a lot of other things I'd like to make.

My comic is public domain - if people do end up wanting a sequel that much, they can make it themselves :P

If the sequel has completely new characters, then what even makes it a sequel except perhaps being set in the same world and referencing past events? I have more than one story I want to make in each universe/continuity anyway, sooo ...

Not really a sequel as such, but I already have ideas and even whole synopses for other comics set in the same universe.

I'm already writing the sequel but it's a novel, not a comic. But like I write stuff like sequels because I myself am interested in continuing the story, a major success would definitely be a motivator but it's for myself first and foremost.

I don't think I'd do a sequel comic for any of my stories tbh. I have a lot of projects I want to do, but a comic is a very slow process- sequels will remain as novels and extra writing for me.

I have three stories I want to tell in my current universe (all different characters) and one more that's in a connected universe.

I developed the last story in this series first. The comic I post now started as a place to grow my art and storytelling before I started doing the art for the last story. Also cuz the last story was about a quarantine and I finished the story and character designs for it at the beginning of 2019 and uh... yeah...

So after this comic, it's my goal to get back to that last story. Idk if people who like this comic will like that one, but I want to do it whether I'm successful or not!

I would like to make a prequel, if it's a story worth telling. A sequel.. has less of an opportunity to be a good story, with this one.

I'm already writing a "sequel" tho it's not in the same vain I think most people are thinking. Once LfO is finish I'll be releasing a campaign setting of a low fantasy version of D&D it's still being play tested and I'm trying not to expand it TOO far from the three major continents in the story but it will be their for people to "continue" the story so to speak of the world itself rather then the characters.

i think i depends? some of my stories will have hard endings that arent malleable and dont really have follow up stories after them but others with "softer" endings might

granted those with softer ending were done with the intention of being able to take breaks between if necessary or continue those stories if there was enough interest in them

there's also the fact that a majority of my stories are set withing the same world/universe just spanned across its timeline so even if i didn't write a sequel to a certain story there's likely still other stories i could tell if i wanted to or if enough folks wanted to see them

I actually do plan to leave the ending of my comic a little open ended in case I want to make a sequel. The main story would be wrapped up but with enough room to have episodic mini-comics after it's completed.

My comic's cast is already an ensemble variety so the finale would wrap up all their stories, leaving me little reason to make a sequel. I'm not interested in spending most of my life focusing on a single set of characters.

I technically am sort of writing a "sister series" which shares the same lore and a few characters. Tho I would not call it a sequel because I sort to also want them to stand alone.

I did have more planned for Sugar Land and I guess if that series hit 1k followers or something, I might be open to adding on to it. I don't really have much motivation to really return to that series at this moment.

For Crow's Worth, I was brainstorming maybe having some extra series that I could add smaller bit to. Be it a gag-a-day style comic or a webnovel with short stories. Tho success won't be the thing motivating me to do those things, I just like making stuff with my characters.

I don't care if only ten people (including me) see my comics, I'm going to make sequels for those ten people! Not Shatterswap, but I have more ideas for Hopetale than I know what to do with!

I'm on the same boat as @faisalhussein394. I've had and still have ideas for follow-ups to my series but if I make a solo story and I have no clue how to follow it up I won't do it, even if it would be profitable.

Perhaps a very loosely connected sequel or maybe some kind of short spin off, if I ever get to that point. In general though I'd probably want to end the original story for real and leave it there. I don't think I'd be especially good at writing sequels, I feel that in my case they would undermine the original's ending.

ironically pretty much every other story my partner and I are working on are prequels.
Guardians's Story is a one-and-done, and I'm already working on the script to my next comic. So no sequels, nope.

Let's define 'sucess' first.
If that means that I can live just by doign this, why not? If its only helps to amount a couple of more subscribers, I prefer to do new things.
