Now in certain mythology they say that a god or monster was trapped or imprisoned deep within the earth for his misdeeds.

Now using the idea of monsters being trapped deep within the earth, and to say that in my story, every time an earthquake starts ii means these monsters are trying to break free from their prison beneath the earth. and let's say that on a certain date May 5, 2027 a violent earthquake shook a particular city and the earth opened up. Then from that point on we roll with the idea of humans now living in a world with monsters emerging from the earth every time a violent quake hits. And further into the story we see how people adapt to this new world with monsters and we will see how people combats them and even try to study them.

We'll even see an introduction to people called demi-gods in the story, a demi-god can kill a monster much easier than a normal human can.

I'm just wondering if this concept in your opinion would make a good story?

This is a setting, not a story. As far as a setting, it is interesting.

I agree that this is an interesting setting/concept, but what would make it a good story will depend on how you deliver it. It is said that ideas are plentiful, and execution is everything. (Or something to that effect.)

I mean Godzilla, Pacific Rim and Call of Cthulhu all work based on that setting so it's been done before and works, but as others have said, that's not a story, it's a premice, a setting. Way too little to judge if it's going to work or not. Just based off of the 3 I mentionned, one is kaiju horror, one is action scifi with mech elements and one is the birthplace of pop culture cosmic horror.

A general rule in writing is that any concept can work if you do it right and pitch it well.

Just try to remember all of the Godzilla movies you ever saw and then go from there.Casablanca was inspired from many different films. The Harry Potter books are based on The House with a Clock in its Walls.I know because I read that book in 1978.Everyone does it.My story is Dr. Who,just changed around a lot.Instead of the TARDIS,my hero flys around in a porta john trying to save the universe.Actually, the stories in Godzilla were exceptional.Monsters, aliens, mad scientists, good guys, bad guys,so forth and so on.Just think of a good Godzilla movie and go from there Let your imagination work overtime.
