Would you continue your comic/novel past its resolution due to popularity/demand?

Honestly no. If that story is done then that story is done. If there's another story to tell in the same world then maybe I'd do that, but that story is over.

oh was i confused at first, i thought by resolution you mean like size of canvas?

but no, when my story has ended it has ended, but like some said maybe a spin-off or maybe even a short comic on something that happened somewhere in the main story that just didnt fit?
but only if it felt right, never to try to push myself if i felt like the story is done and its time to leave it behind!

since i have a big setting to do multiple stories in, characters from the other stories would show up in others regardless.
so if by "continuing past resolution" ye mean making a sequel, i already got plans for that lol.
so don't really need popularity/demand to make that happen lol.

Otherwise, nah. I usually have a set ending in mind for a story and I write it with the intention of ending it there. Sometimes it takes so long to get to the finish line I just burn out from the settings and characters that I don't even want to work on any spin-offs/prequels/sequels for it.

Eh, not a direct sequel, honestly. I can't really imagine any sort of conflict after the ending of Celestials, and I hate it when writers make up one just to make a sequel because it just ends up being the most superficial thing ever. However, Celestials DOES have some stuff that don't get addressed in the main story that would make good content for future comics, so I'd probably make a prequel, or a sequel with a different set of characters/a spinoff.

I'd consider a sequel, but I wouldn't just continue on in the same comic with no break. The end of Errant is going to be very final in a lot of ways. Anything coming directly after would have to undermine the power of the ending or be really comparatively boring in stakes and action.

If I did a sequel, it'd probably be after a timeskip of a few years, the same characters would be in it, but after the timeskip, they'd have new circumstances and relationship dynamics to explore. The main protagonist almost certainly wouldn't be Rekki. There would be a totally new antagonist and conflict.

I mean, if the story has to be forcefully dragged on, then no. Even if the series is popular, I would never ever try to stretch it further from what it was originally meant to be. For instance, I've always been of the opinion that a good series knows when to stop.
Personally, I'd still continue putting out spin-off material and various things about the series, but I would never go on with the original story itself if I consider it to be finished.

Happily Ever Afters are a key part for romances, yes. My point was basically that if you've reached the natural ending point, it should end. The stories will add 3-4 different plotlines before it comes to a conclusion and can make a once interesting premise, tired.

If it grows to be that popular, where it's bringing me a livable income, I know how I would tweak the current ending and make the story continue for a while longer . But if I had already finished the story, then no. I would love to instead make a different story within the same world. I have so many ideas for sequels, prequels and complete spin-offs that I could keep goind with the same IP forever.

Honestly, I wouldn't. For one, most stories I publish are already done, and rewriting them the way people want just because they want will take too much out of me. If readers have insight on something that I didn't even notice, I might or might not consider that for the sequel. But, I plan not to drag anything more than needed. Once a story is done, it's done. And it will end the way that I find alright.

I don't think I'd continue the main storyline because I want to draw it out and keep it contained but I'd definitely be up for spin-offs and things like that if there was enough demand for it!

No. If I ever experienced true popularity and actual demand, I would still start a new story once the story is done. I believe that a great ending is a trademark of a great story.

Not the story itself, no. The comic's current planned ending has some space for epilogue shenanigans, but I wouldn't extend it so far from its real climax. It's much better to stay in that universe and maybe bring someone from the cast into a new story a few years after the fact.

All of my stories are planned out methodically, so it has a clear beginning, middle, and end over the span over some years. I wouldn't want to completely milk the story dry and then like it said, the quality declines. I would just create another story set in the same universe as the story that ended. Or make another story i general and start over.

Well, I wouldn't extend an existing story, but I'd be happy to start a prequel/sequel or a spinoff to tell a new story with some of the same characters.

Honestly, a situation like this would be a dream to me. I LOVE expanding on fictional universes; adding more and more to the existing framework and pushing my creativity to its limits...if it ever happened that (a) I actually finished a comic and (b) a financially significant number of people actually WANTED more of it, that would be the happiest day of my life. ^^

Heck no. I have many other projects that I could work on and have people enjoy, limiting myself to a single story is something that no one should do even if it is incredibly popular.
