Would you rather your comic be adapted into a TV series or a movie?

Grassblades would definitely work better as a tv-show than a movie. The plot is just too big to comfortably fit into a reasonably sized movie, and if you tried to cut it down for time, you'd lose essential plot-elements.

I think I'd like to see it animated, too! In a style as close to my own as possible, but failing that, something that looks like a cross between Avatar: The Last Airbender's character animation and Studio Ghibli's environments. I want distinct, expressive characters, and lots of swooshy winds and sweeping camera shots of the environment! <3

If I had to pick between the two I guess TV series. Movie would just be horrible.

Runewriters would be a terrible movie! I feel like... a lot of the things that make Runewriters good to me are parts that would need to be cut from a movie. RW is a weirdly complicated little story about the intersection of a bunch of different people -- you'd HAVE to cut out half those people. You'd lower the complication and could probably make a decently coherent fantasy movie, but you'd also miss the point of the story, I feel like!

I'm in the same boat as @joannekwan where I couldn't do live-action because there's too many elements that would require expensive effects. So it'd have to be an animated TV mini-series by process of elimination!
I don't care about people matching my style -- my style is definitely NOT designed to work well for animation. Honestly, it would be cool to see an animator's take on these characters. Make them cartoony! Make them 3D! Do whatever! Make them your own, so that you can be just as heartfelt when you're animating them as I was when drawing them.

That said, I don't know that I'd..... want to see RW adapted. It'd be tougher to make the story work in a partially audio-based medium -- one of the advantages of comics is that there isn't any barrier to understanding a character who speaks versus a character who writes to communicate versus a character who uses sign language, and so the audience can relate instantly to characters who normally have a barrier, without subtitles. I'd want to see a hypothetical TV series handled by someone who was passionate about their craft and about solving these challenges on the screen in an interesting way, rather than someone who just wanted to see the characters move around. ;u;

Numb would be fine as short tv-series, maybeeee 15-25 episodes. One movie would be too full of stuff and I don't think it's epic enough to be a trilogy With tv-format it's you can flow slow-burn stories better and keep them interesting while building up the finale. Live-action would be perfect with some neat visuals and lightning. Ohhh it'd be fun to see it! I can always dream.

I imagine Household Slimemold would work as a tv series. It wouldn't do well as a movie as each chapter is kinda episodic. I would rather have it animated cause it's got lots of character designs that would just look corny in live action. >.<
I think around ~13 episodes could cover the whole story.

I think mine One of Us it's better for a series like adventure time or steven universe because the story follows what's happening on the present while the past is told in little pieces like the first page of a chapter or during a dialogue. All this makes a mystery which is tipical of the 2 animations I told.

I really do like the idea of Cosmos Song being adapted as a move or TV show, but I would only feel comfortable with it if I had 100% say on how the entire show/movie would go down. I know that sounds silly but i've seen enough comic and video game adaptivities of movies to know what happens when Hollywood gets a hold of them :S HEHE!

The Angel with Black Wings will probably be a 2-part feature-length movie. I don't like live action ones and I prefer animation like Studio Ghibli. (I'm waaaay too ambitious for my own good.)

For Model Student, definitely a tv series. Maybe 20ish episodes with a few OVA's and then be done with it. lol xD

If want Voidchild to be an anime series just so I could get a ridiculous upbeat j-pop intro and a slower paced j-pop outro! The content of the show could be like whatever if I got that.. *_^

If it were a movie, I'd worry it'd turn out like the first spider-man movie with Tobey Maguire where they tried to cram too much stuff into one feature.

SPEJS is episodic (every chapter should be able to be read as a stand-alone story), so I'd like to see it as a TV show =)

Truthfully- neither. While TV shows are better suited for story telling format for comics, the flip side is if the writing staff is capable of translating from the book to the show well or in most major cases- will the small TV budget allow for stories/special fx to tell epic sized storylines.

Where as with a movie, the budget is there(most those type movies have a cost well north of $175 million), but you have to condense your story into a 2-3 hour format; therefore the story cant be told at the pace that it needs to be and a lot of stuff gets sacrificed- even with trilogies.

Also not to mention in both platforms there is also the issue of creative control. With TV shows, the creator may retain a little more control, but with most movies the creator usually loses control(and in some cases, it was a good thing as the creators were not equipped to deal with the process of their work being transformed into a movie or trilogy franchise).

For Rooftop Bookshop? A show definately, I can't imagine making a comedy slice of life movie would be an easy endeavor. That and it is a bit episodic rather than one long running story.

For (Semi) Super... That might be better as a movie. There's more action to it (or at least there will be, I don't have too much of it up now haha)

I would rather turn my comics be turned into an animation, since that's how I see everything in the planning phase. Not so much to put on TV, but just as a for me thing. Nothing would make me come back from the dead faster than seeing my characters, and the environments actually move.

The only thing that sucks is that I have no idea where to start. I can do animation myself (have some experience with using Adobe Flash), but it would be fully traditional so I have no idea what paper to use and what not. Nor do I know where to start, or how to start for that big of a project, not to mention the requirement for voice actors and sound effects. Animation has a lot of stuff going into it.

I think swipe city is more suited to be a Tv show than a movie. but given it features physical punishment in places it's hard enough marketing it to this generation as a comic, i dont see it becoming a box office smasher. it would be pretty cool as long as like in the comic i get the role as the Mayor.

I feel like a movie would have to cut too much stuff out, and while the end result might be cool, it wouldn't really feel like the same story. That's how I feel about the Scott Pilgrim movie.

I think most people here would agree that a tv show would suit their comics better. Unless you have a short series, you're obviously going to want all of the details in your comic represented as a TV show. Also, if you have a longform comic, you'll definitely need the extra room to tell your story without condensing it. For me, Don't Be A Hero would definitely work as a TV series, since it's longform. I've got a large diverse cast of characters, and a movie just couldn't develop them enough in such a short time span. With a TV series, you can make as many episodes that you want, giving you all of the opportunity in the world to properly tell your story.

You make good points, releasing creative control is the biggest down fall to this scenario, no one wants their hard work to be ripped apart and pieced back together. And if you do, will you be comfortable relaying on other writers/artist? And even if you get the best of the best, as you pointed out the buget might now be there.
Though personally I would still bite the bullett, just to see how it all works out. (I am a glutton for punishment )
