Oh, I hadn't seen the other interview, my bad and sorry about that! I just checked and they are also a premium writer, so I still don't think Tapas were being unfair in that aspect. With that said though, popularity vote contests will always spark some controversy. Even if people are banned from advertising elsewhere, they could always do it in private facebook/discord groups without anyone's knowledge, so everything is a bit of a double-edged sword here. I personally think a themed contest with staff picks only would be the safest bet, but it might be less fun and engaging for the community overall since it wouldn't include votes. As for the SFW content winning, if this happens to have something to do with the app store's new regulations as some people are speculating, I don't think this is something Tapas could have predicted, nor are they responsible.
Although I agree that some things were unclear, I have faith that Tapas cares about its creators. The first two Writers Camp were not as controversial, and I'm sure that the lack of transparency and events that followed this one were unintentional on their end. We are quick to forget Writers Camp is not the only thing Tapas has to take care of as a company, but I have no doubt that they will take everyone's feedback into account, as they always do.
If there is a fourth Camp, and premium writers are allowed to participate, I will definitely enter again. Other writers and I might have been disqualified, but in the end we all wrote full length books and found new readers thanks to this contest, so although we did not win in the traditional sense, I still think we're all winners here.
