Ah, I have the dreaded Writer's Block and with everything going on on this planet, I can't be the only one. I joined Tapas in March and I think I posted 30 chapters that month, but this month I managed to squeeze out a measly 1 two days ago :cry_02:

Anyways, what really gets me out of that depressing abyss is finding great stories to boost me up AND recieving awesome comments that just validate my existence as an author and make me feel all warm and loved inside.

I know it can be lonely writing on a platform dominated by comics, but if you have Writer's Block and are in need of a genuine comment to make your day, I'm here for you. [Beware, I'm really honest about it too]

I think it'll be nice if we all get to find both motivation and new novels to read today, so here's a thread to lift us all up.

Tell me (us) how you got your story idea [what inspired you, who's your favorite character to write, etc] and leave a link behind so that I (we) can check it out :heart_03:

Hi

I don't know if I can call it a rael writers block, but I'm procrastinating.
I finished writing my furst full novel which I'm posting here on tapas and while doing that, working on the second book of the series. But because I feel like I have lots of time, I'm not doing much xD
(Last episode of book 1 will be posted on September 15th, with 4 parts a week)

But anyway, my story is based on RP characters I've been using for 14 years. Finally decided to write them down
While every story in itself will revolve around 2 other MC's, all of the old ones stick around. So...
My favorite characters to write? Well two atm that are now still side characters Kai and Bryan are their names, but in later books they'll become the MC, so I'm looking forward to that!

I'm working on a paranormal romance (thought that might be important to know too xD)

and as promised, here is the link:

Hiii again. It's me, Rajini's number one fan (if you can remember, lol). Haven't gotten to reading Selected on Tapas yet so I'm excited to leave my first comment! Anticipate it :smug_01:

I'm very much paining my head rn.... I'm so sorry, but I like to hear that!!!! YAY
Sorry I have trouble remembering -_-
Does a bouncy dance because of a fan!

Ah. We exchanged replies more on Twitter, though I've been inactive for a while. Lol. I didn't really expect you to remember, so don't worry :relieved:

oh!!!!
My mind's a mess, this is on me!
Sorry about that, but still thank you for the compliments <3

(I LOVE Pink Walls!!)

Everyone hits writers block at some point. And, with the state of the world, we’re all going through stages of grief. I’m one of those (possibly manic) weirdos that, when life goes crazy, I make my own life crazier by starting new projects and challenges. But that’s not how most people operate and you need to give yourself room to breathe. Your fans and subscribers will understand

ADHD moment - what was this thread about, again?

Right. So, I just randomly had this crazy burst of inspiration for my story and I sat down and wrote something like 15k words one day (for real) because I swear these characters were fully formed in my mind already and I had almost a full plot and everything :scream: which never happens, so I wasn’t about to lose that moment!!

I love writing all my characters - don’t make me choose! I switch every few chapters from Jake’s POV (my main MC) to Damien (my secondary MC) and it’s always fun because their internal thought processes are very different and it’s nice to see how they view each other (vs how they view themselves).

Anyway, @chronicidalluatic (or anyone else), don’t feel obligated to go read, but if you’re interested, I like to call my writing style “fluffy angst with some plot thrown in for good measure”

Aw. Thanks! I definitely get the whole making your life chaotic thing, and I have to force myself to focus on one project whenever I get the urge to tackle something knew. I'm glad you like Pink Walls... I remember checking your profile a couple times but you didn't have any works posted back then! I'm happy now that you do Andrea I'll be more than happy to read what you write:heart:️

I can't wait to meet these fluffy, angsty characters!

Ahhhhhhh!! Thank you so much!!!

**happy dance **

I hope you enjoy it!!

When I’m really struggling with motivation for writing, in particular, I always try to read a ton. My father has this saying that’s essentially, “if you input plenty of what you want to output, eventually it’ll come out.” So, words in (eventually) become words out

I currently have Writer's Block. It's why I'm stalking the forums in my free time and hiding from my editor (my fiance) even though we live together and are quarantined. Even this post is a struggle, but I'll try.

My story was inspired by a lot of my life actually--struggles with anxiety, a really bad relationship with an ex, and my love for all things super heroes and anime. Now, admittedly, those things don't sound like they go well, but I think after three years and three different drafts I might have finally figured it out.

My favorite character to write the antagonist because their speech pattern is so distinct and I love dialogue. They don't use conjunctions which is actually a lot harder than you'd think because they're so commonplace in every day language.

Hope you break through your writer's block soon. I have to or else I'll miss my deadline next week and my editor will make me do all the chores.

I actually saw your novel linked in a different discussion earlier today and have it pulled up to read (in one of my hundreds of tabs ) It looks really interesting! And now that you’ve mentioned how the one character speaks, I’m even more curious

Also, I was laughing so hard at your editor “situation” that I had to read it to my husband and he thought it was hilarious as well :joy:

:persevere: I've been staring at my computer and have been trying to at least get out 700 words and it's been like 3 hours :sob: these last two chapters i've written make me want to pull my hair out :triumph:

After some random scribbles that I probably won't be able to read tomorrow, i decided to just type and let the words take me wherever. And when in doubt, use plot armor.

Technically it's when a character can't die because they're too important to the story, regardless of damage they take or them being in harm's way
