I've been wanting to leave twitter for years now but no, i'm staying because i have some friends on there and I need to find another place to go and market my comic.
And so far I haven't heard anything about mastodon that makes me want to switch. I might start using pillowfort again, though idk ???
I know a lot of people are saying to go to discord or tumblr but my tumblr is for me and my discord is for friends so that doesn't work for marketing
doesn't help that I wasn't good at marketing to begin with

Not sure yet. I don’t go on twitter everyday but I have a pretty good following of 25k+ and a lot of industry contacts and personal friends on there that I’m not 100% sure are leaving since a lot of us are in a similar situation.

For now, I’m playing it by ear and seeing where it all goes.

People aren't going anywhere if porn isn't allowed, which was the WHOLE reason people migrated to twitter to begin with.
That being said, I'm still keeping an ear to the ground. I want any excuse to leave this awful site.

Already did last year though it was gradual and I just stopped updating. It was easy for me to give up because I didn’t use it very much anyways. I couldn’t keep up engagement and with the fast pace, and I knew it. I wrote some promotional posts and tried to post regularly, but I still felt my morale slip and couldn’t regain it.

I also made a site on Neocities and post updates there. It took a lot of extra effort to code a site, but it was fun!

This year I joined Mastodon.art, and it’s an instance I can highly recommend for promoting art! It feels a lot more laid back and the larger character limit for posts is very helpful!

 I’m not sure how quickly those invites will last for Pillowfort, but it looks like an interesting platform and I like its focus on building communities.

Artfol is pretty small and pleasant and has similar features to twitter while being more focused on artists. it's still in development but pretty good imo.

Twitter wasn't my main platform, and it is the one I joined relatively recently and has the fewest followers. (I also don't post anything extra there) I already removed the Twitter logo from my "follow us" image, and I will probably just fill that gap with Patreon, once I can get things figured out.

I have better things to do than watch that nonstop dumpster fire of a mid-life crisis destroy Twitter because he is an entitled moron.

I was never in that godforsaken place and now thankfully I will have no motive to go

I abandoned Twitter like two days ago bc Idk I'm not a boomer (way to young) but this made me feel like one and I didn't get AT ALL how to gain followers.
Then I got a post, a recommended post, in category "Rock" (??) that was some political brainwashing bull puke and I said thats it Twitter, I'm gonna delete my account.
But I didn't find where to delete it so I deleted the app :joy: christ I'm such a boomer in a mid twentys body.

I am not abandoning it but I do have a Mastodon account now.

Yep, pretty much. Like it's one thing to have to toil for attention on a social media site, but when it's going in a direction where I sincerely don't think Musk wants Twitter to even have a future, I'm out. It's honestly going to only get worse as the layoffs continue, and the culture is only going to get worse under his influence. I don't see why I should waste my time by putting too much emphasis on it. So lately I've been going to short form video, over on the tik tok and the reels.

I do like the interface of Pillowfort, it kind of reminds me of the old days of Livejournal. But, like, way better. I'm gonna keep my eye on this platform--Considering how small yet growing it is, it might not be a bad idea to support the team since they're only asking for a buck a month. Just saying, if Pillowfort WERE to take off, all us comickers with a foot in the door already might find ourselves in an advantageous position down the line.

PS: I did make a Mastodon account last week, but I'm really not feeling it there. PF immediately has me curious about future prospects. If anyone wants an invite, I can offer you one. Looks like users get 3 codes a week to hand out.

Nahhhhh, I can't give up Twitter. Its too addicting lol. Someone make a meme about two mannequins, one crying and the other laughing followed the quote, this mf paid for Twitter. Thats a great meme. One time, I asked my followers why they follow me, I got no response from them and 10 more followers. Lol its a chaotic mess.

I don't think I'm going to quit Twitter anytime soon. I'm starting to love Twitter again so I can interact with artists and graphic designers. I don't have any plans for a Mastodon account or a Pillowfort account at all.

i blinked and it got worse so i'm just gonna start roasting marshmallows on the flames

Twitter looking like a hot mess. I am worried they are trying to use the chaos as an "ad boost" moment. Maybe best to use ad-block or just avoid the site.

It's gotten worse. I've already got my Mastodon account going...it's a good thing I didnt delete my Tumblr and just let it sit idle since 2020; I've had Pillowfort since 2020 when I stopped posting at Tumblr.

Not leaving Twitter...but like someone else was saying- it really sucks coz it was a site that not only was used to conversing with your friends, family, and peers but people actually got jobs through the site and jobs used Twitter to find candidates; companies used Twitter to amass followers and shape their online presence & influence. Creators connected with each other- I found LOTS of wonderful artists and webcomic creators through Twitter; just really sucks that dude and his fragile ego could not leave it alone.

I really dont care to fuck with DA because of the recent attempt to mine users' works for AI generated art; at this point I'm TIRED of tech bros trying to get rich by screwing over artists & other creatives- by way of AI art, NFTs, or the algorithm...

I've never really used it, all of this just gives me more reason to ignore it.

of all things the funniest is that this mess got me back on the dollars chat x'D

Nah, unless the platform is actually shut down. In my opinion, I feel this "OH MY GOD TWITTER IS DYING" thing is a bit of an overreaction caused by layoffs at the company. I mean sure, Elon's handling of the platform is not super great but in general, I've always seen twitter as a bit of a hell scape, even before musk. So I've been looking at this drama being like "just another day on twitter" XD

Yeah, honestly I doubt Twitter will die off. I've been seeing people doing "TWITTER IS DONE GUYS" tweets, but like..... I'm still seeing the same people using it. Either way, I love the meme accounts.

Honestly, I am tired of Twitter, It became really boring to read all that tweets. I use Instagram, Facebook, and Tik Tok, you can simply subscribe to some news channels that would inform you about all the last events. Additionally, these platforms are perfect for your personal brand growth. These TikTok Growth Experts helped me a lot to get tons of likes views and followers and now I have incredible sales I have never dreamed about.

I quit Twitter a week ago and honestly it has been great. I don't think I will go back to in until they get rid of the CEO and fix the moderation.

I do enjoy not having to deal with everyone's drama 24/7. I still follow people's art on Tumblr/Instagram and if I want news on movies/games coming out, I will see it on my Facebook feed. I also end up using my free time to read or play video games instead of doom scrolling, which is pretty nice.

ngl i think a lot of the jokes about "rip twitter/the site is dying" is humor at the expense of the site or humor to cope with it's decline

so far i've noticed the main issues now have been upticks in ads, some vulnerable accounts being hacked, decline in notifications (like people see some, none or get them much later) and like the occasional slowdown but nothing site breaking so far

i think the only big concern is hearing word about previously banned accounts being reinstated and that putting certain demographics of folks in potential danger and tho it's not been confirmed much less addressed people are just kind of doing what they can to be careful

a lot of folks seem to be noticing decline in followers either in the usual small bouts or big chunks here n there which i feel like i've seen both but then for every drop it's a small uptick so it may be the same old same old or it's people leaving or the site doing the whole "you no longer follow this person even if you weren't trying to unfollow them" thing

i still think folks throwing shade (regardless of volume) at parties concerned about the lifespan of the site or like just general quality of life while on it could be toned back but at this point it's whatever
