I'm not sure if it is just me, but when I write, it has to be on a specific keyboard. I just can't get into the flow of the words until unless it is that specific keyboard. I started out 10 years ago with the Sony VAIO island style keyboards, then got into the MacBook Pro keyboard (the chunky one) and now the butterfly switch keyboard on the MacBook Pro. For each style of keyboard I used it for about 6 years. And once I get used to one design, I have to stick to it for at least a few years to write.

Anyone else has that feeling? What's your keyboard of choice?

I actually prefer ergonomic keyboards because it's less tension on my wrists. At work I have a nice curved, angled keyboard that I work on all day. But at home I just have a standard laptop. I have to take frequent breaks because my wrists start feeling strained. I can still write, but in shorter blocks of time.

I've experienced many keyboards, from the old manual royal typewriters to the latest greatest ergonomic. What I have found I favor though isn't an ergonomic, its the keyboard on my Surface book 2. Physically the spacing is perfect for my hands, no clacky keys to detract from the voices pouring from my head to the paper. The keyboard is so unobtrusive that sometimes it's like my thoughts are just appearing on the screen.

The good ol' Keyboard on my good ol' Launchpad Thinkpad Laptop is good with me! I even have it with the little red mouse button thing!

I like the old keyboards because I feel like I am using a writing machine lol, and they are cheap and I have a numeric keyboard.

Oh! I like the Surface Book 2/Surface Laptop. If anyone pries my MacBook Pro from my cold dead hands, then the Surface and ThinkPad line would be my top choices.

Something with mechanical switches. Modern rubber-dome keyboards just plain suck.

Yeah, I understand that feeling. The first time this happened to me was when I decided not to save money and bought my first expensive mechanical keyboard and I immediately realized that this is my best purchase in the last few years for sure. I found a great article about the best keyboards for programmers. Of all the described keyboards, I chose the most suitable one for me and ordered it on the same day. I still use this keyboard and I can say with confidence that this is the best keyboard I used (I had more than 15 different keyboards).

I've used the same keyboard since 2006 lol I keep meaning to upgrade but I never feel like justifying a new one when this one works perfectly fine
