People are weird and never fit neatly into boxes. I’m a student-athlete—I spend 30 hours a week training and the rest of it studying because I eventually want to be a doctor. I have competed against my 18-year-old brother to see who could push a Jeep up a hill faster and won. I’m very strong. But, I’m also an avid writer, and I collect antique dishes.

What about y’all? What about you would people be surprised to learn because it doesn’t fit the persona they typically see? Do you have any secret talents or hobbies that would make your friends raise an eyebrow?

It's nothing special, especially with the area I'm from, but I know how to change the oil in my car. People wouldn't expect it from me because I can't stand the feeling of dirt/grime on my hands so they generally expect me to not have any 'dirty' hobbies... But my dad told me to never trust a mechanic lmao so I've always changed my own oil, tires, brake pads. Anything bigger than that and I call my dad lol

Nice. And, honestly impressive. I wouldn’t have the faintest idea how to change my oil, and I don’t trust mechanics either (but I don’t have another option seeing as I don’t know how to do anything other than change a flat).

pretty mundane compared to the replies so far but i used to collect rocks as a kid and an off and on hobby of mine has been nature/people watching, something about casually analyzing the behaviors of humans and animals has always been an interest of mine even though some folks find it kind of "off-putting"

i think my only "talent" outside of art/writing would probably baking, though it's pretty average compared to skilled culinary folks who've honed their craft

I'm pretty good at piano. At one point I even wanted to be a music major, but I have small hands, so I went with art because I...love to draw. It was a good thing, too, because ever since the carpal tunnel I can't do those really fast runs anymore (ah sigh) but if I hear a song with piano in it, I will gravitate towards it naturally. Just freakin love pianos.

I can also play the organ. I have played for someone's wedding march, but for that one they did not ask for the organ, surprisingly.

I'm an AMAZING procrastinor. When I was in college, I'd wait to do some big term papers until the last minute. My record was a 31 page research paper about feral horses effecting riparian areas in the Great Basin in 15 hours.

My best works happened while stressfully working under pressure to meet the deadline despite having 2 months to work on it XD Some professors asked if they could use some of my projects as an example for future classes on what they expect! Little did they know it took me less than a day to make it!

That’s so impressive. I don’t have anything else to say other than the fact that I’m so impressed. 31 pages in 15 hours? You are so impressive. Wow.

I collect funko pops and any and all things penguins and pineapples.

I love pineapples! Partly because of the show Psych (which is spectacular) and partly because they are my spirit fruit.

I make weird comics on the internet. Also, I have the attention span to actually read stuff. I'm entering my teenage years, so maybe that will change.

I love Psych too!

Also, I'm certified to operate small sailboats, and I know how to swing dance. That's about it for the interesting talents for me.

I am obsessed with dolls and toy trends and I always like to be inform of that is on the shelves and what is coming in the future and what got discontinued. I love learning about retro and vintage toys through out the years. I know that people think adults who are into dolls and cute plushies are creepy.

I love love love animated shows and movies and have seen quite a few niche ones. (Though I should see more tbh.) Now I've been sorta doing less with that hobby in favour of spending more time writing and drawing.

I have a talent for finding the best gay shows and movies. As for hobbies... well I can't do it anymore because I don't have the resources but I love letterpress so much. It's so tedious and repetitive but I live for the clickity clack of metal type.

I'm a taxidermist. Which most people don't expect because I was formally vegan, (now reductarian for medical reasons)

Not really out there, but I used to be a big crocheter! I've also done a bit of cross stitching and I've recently delved into felting! I made a really cute wooloo out of felt a few weeks ago :3

Probably metal detecting.

I don't do it very often. I think it's fun to find random things in the forest. I usualy find cans or bottle tops. Sometimes I find cooler things like bullets in the middle of the forest. That probably means that a battle happened there during the war or it's just from hunters. Interesting stuff.
