dang and i thought i had garbage level sketch pagesOP wins this round
Oooh, this is a fun topic!
My Grassblades-pages usually go through 2 stages of sketching before I start colouring, and they look like this:
Original sketch
Released version
Because of the insane lack of detail my 'sketches" often become the finished work. Its a real time saver
I usually start with a thumbnail for an idea (usually in a notebook or a scrap of paper) for layout. Then I fix the layout with the digital sketch. From there I look up references and stuff, ink it, then color it:
I usually sketch the chapter on one go and some pages have more detail than others ;b
The sketch
this is where talesfromswipecity. stands out from the crowd. I don't sketch because i have a 3d version of every "Actor" in my cast.
once I have a script I work all the frames out just like on a movie set using Poser ten, then lay out the page. after that it's ink and color and shade where needed before balloons.
I don't have any of my thumbnails for recent pages on my computer at the moment, but my roughs are still pretty rough!
The very first layer I draw...
For Llucid
Oh, I just did something like this on twitter with my most recent page to track my progress on getting it done haha. Here's the initial thumbed page:

FINAL FORM:
It's always fun to see everyone's process when it comes to drawing comics!!! Good work everyone.=u=9
Ah, such variety in here! And everyone polishes up so tight, this is awesome! Here's a little rough process of a few of my pages from pencil to ink to digital paint.
I'm very, very messy and tend to use photoshop as a crutch for clean-up.
my initial sketches are always really sloppy looking. Here's the final piece of my comic, "Let's Go on an Adventure!"
I must admit seeing these are fascinating~ I love it.
Mine are a sloppy, horrid mess of sketchy sketch line initially. (Not including my thumbnails sketched on paper first.)
But then Ta-DAH!! Latest page of Unravel!
My stuff is so sketchy.
Some changes in between roughs to final layout, but I try to get my roughs as tight as possible.
Most of the time, I pencil before I ink... roughs, pencils inks below.
Ooh cool topic! Here's Tales from the Well!
I've kind of changed by thumbnail-drawing style since then, but posting those would be spoilery XD I use this part to plan out speechbubble placement and color too =)
Tah-daaah XD
This is from my comic Descending from spacekeep in mind to view this you migth need to click on the image because its a gif file.
Yeah I def fall in the really-rough-sketches-figure-it-out-later camp. This one from my last page is way more detail than I usually put into a sketch, and I've abandoned the red pencil method since then:
Hehe I love the little expressions in your rough sketches
