Funny enough I recall having seen an internship opportunity flyer at my art school in San Francisco years back. Unfortunately I was swamped with too many classes to even consider applying to such a commitment, but I kept Tapastic tucked away in my noggin. And then recently I recalled the name, searc…
Haha, this is pretty accurate to be honest. :3 [image]
Great! Glad to hear. ^_^
It looks great, but if it weren't for @felipechoque's link, I wouldn't have been able to find the usual feed I go to for fresh best-new webcomics. I'm a bit sad that it wasn't included on the homepage... unless I just can't find the gosh darn link/button for it. Erk! >_>
It's incredibly versatile. In fact, I've abandoned Photoshop because of it. Since it's oriented more towards comics, it allows your workflow to go uninterrupted for quite awhile. If you do want to have killer effects like watercolors and so forth, well, Photoshop for that. But those are the finite d…
I suffer from a disease known as "word diarrhea," where the context of my message is lost within a horrific onslaught of unprocessed wordage. Could be called motormouth as well, but honestly I prefer the idea that an avalanche of words just pummels everyone's ears. My thoughts are much more organize…
I'd love to join in! Just to see what people are chatting about. You know, lurk about. But of course... that means I need to get Skype. Hrm...
Well I do have my own website, but not a lot of views go there. I'm not advertising my comic all over the internet like I should. Instead it's my home base. It's clean, shows the strip, my bio & other little illustrations I've done (it's sparse, since my art school projects aren't really "portfolio-…
So sorry to hear that you recently got laid off @hannahvbel. Lemme see if I can find a few deets you can take. Since you are leaning more towards graphic/cartoony stuff, I recommend looking into mobile game app companies. A lot of them pursue that type of style in general, because it tends to gra…
I have to say, that porn pays. Don't get me wrong, means nothing wrong. But it means that there is always a demand for such stuff. Hence why subscription services to porn comics is on the rise. And if you enjoy drawing it, there shouldn't be any shame in doing it. I've seen folks who have thrived be…
So I'm reviving this topic! Let's keep dishing the love. Just stumbled upon this amazing looking comic called Mythspace , holy cow I'm in love with everything about this sci-fi adventure. The style, inking, the well-executed panelwork and action... I'm sad that they're not updating for awhile, but …
I first started here March 2014? And as of this moment, I've been fortunate enough to have reached 1000 subscribers. I think it took approximately 6 months? It's been nice growing the audience over this duration of time, and I'm more than happy to continue creating content that hopefully people enjo…
There's this comic called Shiver Bureau, which I feel should have more subscribers. Though it is a story comic, it does have a pretty killer style and somewhat fun plot thus far. It's a bit slow at the moment, but I have the feeling that things will be picking up soon. Not sure if the creator is eit…
Got to say, loving that badge. Was pleasantly surprised by it while replying to commenters today, and I have to say, it's a cool addition. ^^
When you're using Illustrator, things look so freaking clean that you can't help but want to make things look at least "handmade." But as for the pixeling effect... I did find something that I bookmarked awhile back. It may be a primary sort of approach, but once you get this down you can get the…
Meeting deadlines was the hardest part for me a few months back. In fact, I often found myself barely making my deadlines mainly due to the amount of time it'd take to make every strip. Luckily I've gotten faster, but that deadline looms over me like a guillotine. You see, my writer and I have an…
Hahahah, well don't worry though, if you're pursuing animation your free time may become a bit more precious. Most of my animation peeps literally didn't sleep through their semesters, especially 2D folks. The bags under their eyes are legendary.
YOU CRAZY!! But seriously, your work ethic is great. I'm so lazy in comparison omigawd
Anything probably. Anyone here at SDCC? I sadly am unable to, due to being in the middle of the ocean.
As someone who finally escaped the clutches of the college school system, I should be considered unemployed due to my strange disinterest in not wanting to work for any animation/gaming studios in my vicinity. But somehow I'm a self-employed freelancing creative. I mainly do contractual graphic desi…
Pretty much, and it's familiarity in all honesty. I had that issue when jumping from PS to MangaStudio, because the interface was freaking difficult to understand at first. But hey, whatever works for you right? My illustration buddies use mostly Photoshop or Corel Painter mainly for rendering purpo…
I know Manga Studio isn't free, hence why majority of my peers in art school hissed upon seeing it.I never understood why they were like that, it may have to do with a strict adherence to the one true Photoshop. All that rendering, hahaha... thankful I don't do all of that. However, as a semi-wor…
Saw the topic, and thought I'd pop in my two cents. For my work, I use my Surface Pro 2 w/ Manga Studio 5 EX, alongside some brushes I've purchased for it. Honestly it's just so easy to work on! I do everything on it, and my turnaround with my comics is much faster thanks to it.
I don't think creators would mind honestly. The fact that you're willing to support a creator is super cool. In fact, if you're shown to support one or two creators, it just means that you really believe in the work they produce and want to see more from them. Doesn't mean you're flipping off all ot…
You really were just asking people about work size huh? Well whatever, floats your boat and whatnot. Just saying, past experience has shown me that working small seriously bites you in the behind. But whatever, I'm out. exits thread
Jonathan pretty much hits it on the head. Unless you intend your work for only Tapastic, then perhaps your approach is fine. But elsewhere? I don't know. If I posted my Tapastic-formatted comics onto my site, they would be tiny and fuzzed up. So working on your content at a larger size would enable …
Actually the best thing to do is to draw your comic at full size! Then resize in either Photoshop, SAI, or even Mangastudio. I do all my work at 600 dpi, which is a BIG file, but it shrinks down nicely when I upload it on Tapastic. I was skeptical at first too, but Michael Son convinced me with a co…
Alright, let's get to it. Honestly I'm enjoying your art style, I immediately thought you were an animator upon seeing your strip! And as a joke strip, the style works quite well. Even if you're creating this strip in your spare time, it's off to a great start! And if you enjoy it, just make it, no …
