Agreed - and this is some REALLY beautiful work, man! I'm definitely going to check this story out.
I agree that is fairly well done and looks like it can be adapted to a book.
To me that is poor storytelling, and I don't like it either.
Can't think of anything specific right now, but generally comics that really embrace it and create specifically for that (and not just stacked vertical frames). But I do think that makes printing a book much harder. So you have to think about what you really want. If you just browse around some of t…
Good point - how is that best illustrated?
Just to be clear, I am not saying there is one right way to do it. Both of my comics are made as pages. I reformat them to post here. Marooned has already been through multiple printings. GG is new, but will also be printed when done. I feel like it's the best route if you want a printed book. …
One way you can grow your following on IG is to sponsor people who have followers that would likely identify with what you produce. I'm looking for some opportunities to sponsor a post to get some exposure - meaning I will pay you to have me as your sponsor for a post. I'm looking for someone …
Me on the Gram machine
My Gram is here, I recently re-formatted my first episode to fit.
It would be great if Tapas exposed analytics on our readers. Knowing some of that would be valuable.
Something that has been true since the early days of webcomics: QUALITY TRUMPS ALL. Back in the day, there were comics that updated rarely, single pages - and yet were widely popular. They had sites that were hard to navigate and yet it all worked. I agree with you, that's still true. I sti…
As a reference point, here is page 15 of my graphic novel [image] Here is the vertical episode that uses that page. You can see how I had to modify the first panel, among other things.
This is an interesting point. It would be great if Tapas would do some user research on this. I very much get that it's a lot of work to reformat an existing comic. It's what I am doing for BOTH my comics publishing here. But I feel like it reads better that way on devices. And some of the panels …
Something interesting I have been noticing of late is how some creators use Tapas' online/vertical format "as intended" while some people kind of go more older school. Let me explain. I think we can agree the general idea here (and on WT) is to format your comic in such a way that it is mobile fr…
Yeah, I got a similar rude response. It's too bad.
I asked him to stop and now he's made another snarky comment. It's a shame.
So this happened on Webtoons, and it looks like I can't delete it. I hit report, but I'm not sure they will do anything about it. I did comment back that it was not cool and asked they not do it again.
I didn't know I could. I look at that, thanks.
Had this comment surface today in Genesis Girl. Struck me as kind of unsavory move. Wondering if there's a policy on this or at least a sort of etiquette? I would never do this in someone else's comic to try and hijack their readers. Thoughts? [image]
Well I have two for you:
Very nice work, man! Thanks for the kind words on GG - which is actually also on WT. Do you want to just cross promote there to start? I'd have to put a mature advisory on, but I'm cool with that if you are. LMK.
I know there is a cross-promo megathread, but it just isn't working for me. Looking for a like-minded comic to cross promote with. GG is new, a staff pick and has 400+ subs this week. If you are interested, drop me a message or reply here. Looking for ONE partner at a time.
I've gone both ways, tagging episodes and not, and I have no idea if one way is better than the other. Are the tags actually used for anything? Especially since we already categorize the comics. I'm just not sure it is worth the effort of doing each time.
Yum! Thanks for looking!
Good morning! Today I've released The Genesis Girl, My first graphic novel since 2013. Been working on this for years on and off. Some of you may have seen the previews last week. Please head over and check it out. Mel is a young girl in hypersleep on an interstellar ship to colonize an Earth-…
Thank you so much, and thank you for looking!
I've self-published two graphic novels already (Both Kickstarted - links below), as well as many other smaller books. I have a small following, I could do it. But I really need to broaden my audience base. It has fallen off after Marooned ended. I could add color to the start. Thinking about that…
Great, thank you for looking!
First, thank you for looking - and for the nice comments! It's a good point about the beginning. The idea was the dream sequence was in B&W - it feels distant and dark to her. But I get you about setting an expectation here where the format is different. That's something to think about. I could w…
Thanks everyone for the feedback.
