P.S., I've had a preternaturally difficult time in getting feedback, so any comments are much appreciated!
Thanks! This is exactly the sort of advice I hoped to get. I hadn't thought of exposition as an opportunity for character building. I draw really slowly, so I'll probably leave this section mostly as-is, but your comments give me a new way to think about things, and I will hopefully find good wa…
Thanks! I ended up doing as you suggested, and I think that the gray surfaces and objects give even more life to the drawings... and they allow me add highlights. [image]
Thanks! I think I've watched this guy's videos before. I'm not looking to make my drawings quite that advanced at the moment, but this is a good resource. I'm kind of glad I didn't see a lot of other people's work before I began my comic because I might have been discouraged by the unmatchably hig…
I will almost certainly NOT be adding color. I've tried this with a few frames, and it was time consuming, and in some cases it didn't look good. Regarding printing, I do offer a print version through a print-on-demand service, but I am not sure if it is better to simply let the halftone issue sor…
Thanks! Your art, and from what I've read, your storytelling are great! After looking at some Tintin comics, I tried using a style where I totally blacked-in dark areas, but it didn't seem to look good with my drawings... though I can definitely see my shading morphing into something that looks mo…
Thanks to everyone for their replies! I will definitely be adding the shadows. One other question that I have is whether it is better to use gray shadows or to use a halftone (which is also available in clip studio).
Here's a link to the comic book:
Thanks! I have Clip studio, and it's what I use for drawing, but for some reason I didn't end up using it for page layout... I think my reason might have been that I like putting drop-shadows behind my thought and speech bubbles.
Thanks for reading, and thanks for your thoughtful response! I am doing all of my dialog balloons in Corel Draw, and if I can find an easy way of doing what you have shown, then I will.
Thanks! The bacterial brain is definitely fun to think about, and seems like the natural extrapolation of a lot of recent biological discoveries (i.e. work of Bonnie Bassler). I hope you like the rest of the story!
Thanks! I was hope the story continues to hold your interest.
Thanks so much for your advice and for taking the time to read! I will definitely try to take your "show don't tell" advice in the future. BTW, your own comic is great, and is very difficult to stop reading once you've started!
