The hardest part about distinguishing what is useful in any given piece of criticism, tactfully given or not, is that the critique is of something that has at least some degree of personal connection to you. You draw something, you write something, that's an expression of who you are, what you hope …

I definitely agree: critique don't need to be 100% valid to be useful. I've gotten some pretty rude comments before that I was able to take something out of and use to my advantage, and I do think it's harmful as an artist to completely disregard what someone's saying simply because I don't like it…

It's probably because I'm a beginner, but I would not mind any kind of critique as long as it's not agressive or totally absurd. First, I think that on a lot of occasions, it's difficult for the reader to make the difference between pure technique and creativity. I see extremely often comments com…

The best criticism, and the most important type to listen to, is always going to be the type that enhances what you're already trying to do. It understands what you're going for and how to make THAT better and isn't telling you to stop doing that. Bad criticism is based on personal taste and nothi…

I was watching a talk on YouTube and afterwards, checked out the comments section and saw a great summary of how to differentiate the two. [image] I just think that's a good way of putting it where you should generally accept criticisms and feedback on the technical things such as composition, a…

LAST 5 DAYS EVERYONE!! Hurry up if you don't want to miss the boat!!!

Today is my Birthday and I never really introduced myself properly on the forums, nor I had the chance to talk about ALL of my works here, so... I think it's a good idea to make a masterpost related to what I have on Tapas, which works are on hold, which are still ongoing, social media links and all…

[image] [image] Coffee. We drink it hot, cold, with milk, with sugar, with whiskey, alone, with friends, at professional meetings, while waiting, to wake up, to share a moment… Coffee is so much a part of our lives that most of us don’t even spare it a thought anymore. It is like a constant bac…

I'm sure you know of this, but in the case that you don't, if you like statistics you might enjoy this spreadsheet: https://jamieraintree.com/writing-revision-tracker/ I'm obsessed with it and love watching those numbers rise. :joy::+1:

Uh, I can. Not sure if it's motivating though. People have refused to write with me before because it seems like it's super demotivating for them to get those updates

You could leave captions saying things like "don't do drugs, kids" or the like if you're worried they'll actually pick up on it. A habit they might pick up in the future isn't wholly your fault, but it doesn't hurt to make your opinion on it clear.

Many years of training and quite a bit of time at my hands  Actually, it's not as much as it sounds. In the NaNo-session in November you'd write 50k, that's 1667 words per day (I always found that that sounds much more managable ) . So I'm just writing 3334 words every day and then I end up at 100k …

?!!~!!!!! Howwww do you write that much??

Well, I'm probably kind of an oddball but I'm writing 100k words every month anyway  So I'd rather want to go with a non-quantity goal like ... I don't know, finishing one of my projects, for example? But at the moment I can't really say if that's realistic since the one I'd probably go for only sta…

I'm sorta a newbie here  so I don't really know what NaNoWriMo is, but yall make it sound rather fun. what is it?

Just realized that and signed up for it as well under the young section. Thanks!

Just so you know, you can set your own goals for camp nano

OMG:scream::scream:! Wish I knew of this earlier. Although I am not very fast at writing, I will be glad to participate! Is there an age limit, though?

Ah, I'd also like to take part. But not sure if I'll have enough time for any sensible goal

November has a novel writing event where some writers decide to take a pledge to write 50k or more during that month!

Not sure if I'll officially sign up on the website but I guess I'll be participating indirectly since I'd planned to write a book this April anyway.:+1:

Book marking this as id like to use Camp to edit AP this year.
