It took me a long time to learn and come to terms with this, but if you go in with the expectation that your story is going to take off or if you're too focused on numbers you're only going to get frustrated and feel dissatisfied. This is easier said than done of course, something you have to come t…
at this point my brain just glosses over the premiums nowadays. its just a sea of sparkles and pale pretty people. i do not see it. begging on my knees for some flavor. why are there so many vilainesses
People have covered the color balance already, but I'd recommend a font over handwritten lettering if you have a program with a working text tool. Dafont has some great fonts that are similar to the look you're going for- you might find something good in these categories: https://www.dafont.com/them…
It's not, but it can be very distracting if the styles clash :^( Also, like Kura pointed out, be careful about using photographs that aren't public domain/stock or the photographer can take action.
My current webcomic is patreon-only while I build up my buffer, but here's a test comic I made when I originally pitched to tapas premium (it was not greenlit, but I wanted to produce it anyway) [image] If you're feeling generous and got a couple bucks to spare,…
First Contact is still patreon-exclusive until I have a big enough buffer but here's a preview :v [image] If you got a couple bucks to spare, you can read 2 full chapters/episodes, and strips for 3 as I finish them on the patreon right now for $2+
Been on tapas for 4 years and they tend to gravitate towards full color, mobile style comics. I don't think they really have a genre preference like they do for the premiums though, you actually get kind of a variety with the staff picks. Same with art style, they just like when it looks polished/cl…
I looked at your image for a while, trying to tell which character is the nonwhite one until I realized it was the dark haired guy? I honestly thought there was a second image that wasn't loading for me. Not to sound rude but he fully reads as a white dude without the added context. I doubt making h…
Back at it in this thread with stuff for my new comic (and another long post sorry haha)- [image][image][image][image][image][image][image]
I think first contact's cover is due for a refresh soon... who knows how many covers it'll go through before release. It's a story about an alien abductee who ends up bound to a symbiotic insect. [image] since it's only up on patreon until release, here's one of…
[image] chipping away at the buffer for my next webcomic, currently posting in early access on my patreon!
I love drawing characters with chompers............... my sona has some really fun teeth to draw! [image] I'm also working on a scifi webcomic that has a lot of sharp teeth......... [image][image][image]
honestly I wouldn't mind if there was some genre/art style diversity with these comic's but it's literally just the same comic with a fresh coat of hair dye on the protag every time :'v
My next webcomic is in early access on patreon for $2+ right now! Episode 1 (about 20 strips) is up as a pdf and you can see the sketches for episode 2 for $1+. First Contact is a Scifi/Space Opera LGBT+ Romance about an alien abductee who finds himself bound to a symbiotic insect, and his captors…
I'm gonna go with a yeah, it's pretty uncomfortable. While that age gap may not be big between adults, it's a whole other thing with teens. There's a massive shift in maturity from 16-19, and I know when I was 19, 16 year olds looked more like children to me and I wouldn't have dated someone that ag…

I had a hidden character present for most of Spire's run, implied to be connected to my character Jack. Nobody really ever asked about it or commented on hints of this character being present :^( [image] [image][image] [image][image] [image]
I feel like I have a lot of trouble writing realistic dialogue. I'm horrible at talking out loud so my conversational skills are awful and I think my writing reflects that.
I've posted this illustration a couple times but it's still my favorite, so here- [image] [image] I use a brush with low pressure sensitivity so I can make thick lines quickly without killing my wrist. I also try to keep draft…
This collab from defunctland and yesterworld about the journey into imagination ride has been occupying my brain rent-free for like a year
Spoilers for Final Space I think final space handled a resurrection arc really well with Avocato. It wasn't done right away (the death happened early season 1, he was resurrected late season 2, so the mcs and audience were allowed time to mourn and develop from it) and Avo's resurrection happened a…
ooh here's some for my next webcomic! [image] [image] I suppose this little animation meme also counts it's currently available in early access on my Patreon!
This is kind of happening with the comic I'm developing. My main character is going to finish developing by the end of season 1, and in season 2 I'll switch focus to two other characters.

I always design characters first tbh, I tend to try to make standalone ocs and then things spiral out of control as I develop them more.
Here's some from the comic I have in development! They're all lgbt in some form and are a close-knit friend group!! [image] Also- here's two new characters I made in the past day! Alien gang leader who steals the rival gang leader's gf and treats her with the respect she deserves. [image]

The hunger games narration is especially good, absolutely one of the best I've listened to of the twenty or so audiobooks I've read in the past year. Wish I could say the same about the prequel audiobook, they got a different narrator and that one was pretty bad in comparison :^( .
I used to compare myself to other artists CONSTANTLY. My parents brought me up with my art in a way that I felt this pressure to always be 'the best' in my demographic- and of course that's not the case and is absolutely an impossible standard, but I still felt immense pressure to improve and be the…

Not to be basic but the Hunger Games really did leave an impression. I bought the audiobook versions and listened to them only recently so I got to experience them outside the 'hype' environment from a few years ago and I definitely think that improved the experience tenfold. I wouldn't say I now ha…
I think 3d comics can be done well, but I definitely think they look better with a different approach. I have trouble reading them laid out like a traditional comic page, but I don't mind them done in board/single panel style. Sims 4 creators have gotten pretty good at staging their comics, [example…
