So I wanna ask artists or anyone with experience with webcomics app on how working with the platform is like?

I've thought of sending them my comic proposals a few months back and coincidentally, they sent me a message a few days ago (they reached out to me first before I did :joy::joy:). I agreed ofc and I'm actually excited for it. We've only exchanged a few messages for now so I still don't know a lot of things, but I'm making a topic here to see if there's anyone who can bless me with more knowledge(and also how good is the pay?)~

I think many people wrote they were not getting paid in the last months before the thread got closed. Here it is, in case if mods will close your thread before you get any answers.

Our group was on it for awhile but we left as soon as they started to change the terms of the contract...during the contract. They tried to backtrack and make it right after we told them we were leaving.

We liked everyone we dealt with personally, just not the changes they tried to make about ownership of intellectual property.

Yes ive read that thread too. I wanted to know how its been like in the recent months, thank you for telling me

They sent me the contract just now. What were the changes ?
In the contract, it says that Webcomics does not claim rights over the property, all claims belong to the proprietor.

They went back to that stance/contract after a bunch of creators left over them trying to change it so they got IP control, a clause that any legal disputes would be settled in the Hong Kong Court system, and a few other problematic addendums.

I'm glad they wised up.

A hosting site trading their service model for IP ownership rights is flatly ridiculous.

1 month later

I just signed their non-exclusively publishing agreement but it says they do not claim ownership rights of proprietor's content ... but didn't mention anything about IP?

How does it work?

I wouldn't know what their current situation is.

When we started they had a pretty basic boilerplate hosting agreement... We left when they started to expand their side of the agreement to include things we were not comfortable with such as assuming IP control. I know they backed off that stance after a bunch of creators left.

I wouldn't be comfortable guessing if Webcomics App sees much a difference between IP rights and as they state it "ownership rights of proprietor's content. Could be exactly the same thing or they could legally think there's a difference.

Sorry I am not more help.

Did you signed as excusive so that is why there are so many T & C? Mine is only non-exclusive so there is very few terms only (e.g. authorize them to publish within certain period)

base on my experience sometimes they messed up on money transfer, you need to email em if you receive it or not and also you need a payoneer account in order to receive the money~ I have a same situation in tapas , they have delay for 1 month or more to get the money~ it took me 1 year to receive my very 1st $100~ but it's good than nothing~

We didn't sign any of the second level contracts they offered because they all had conditions we didn't like.

Like I said, what you're dealing with now isn't like what we walked away from.
