No, I don't mean it sucks as a tool, I mean it sucks, full stop. Shouldn't be used at all in the comic making process. It's a blight on artistry and any artist with scruples wouldn't use AI for anything. This is a horrible idea and I hope it fails.

Best way to get good at art is to practice.

AI might help those who have ideas and stories but no way to express them, because they lack the creativity to put their ideas on paper.

All the more reason to practice.

I can't stand the excuse that someone may not be good art art and that's why they use AI because, the use of AI will 1) not help the person get better and 2) will only provide a creatively bankrupt, unoriginal, and sloppy product. If you don't enjoy the process of creating art, then don't try to shortcut by using AI. Clearly creating isn't your calling and you should focus your time on other things.

More and more professional comic companies are starting to require new hires to be familiar with AI image models and doubling down on Photoshop proficiency which how heavily uses AI. So if you want to potentially make being a comic artist your career, it's a good thing to start learning.

No. They're not working with GenAI. They're training it.

The difference is the company plans to fire the artists the second they think the AI can mimic them well enough. Any artist who believes there's long term employment as an AI wrangler it is a fucking fool.

They'd be better off training themselves to fill out welfare applications.

I have to agree, even as someone who knows I'll probably never have the time to develop the drawing skill I'd like to have.

Defending use of AI so that you can make a comic, without actually making the art yourself, sounds like a claim that everyone has a right to be an artist, even those who won't/can't work to become one.

I have other skills that took years to develop. I can be content with not having all the skills I could ever wish for.

I´m drawing since 48 years now. I drew while people like you and the other techbros decided to do other
stuff with their time. I spent all my money into tools, books, courses to learn the craft. I relearned drawing
at the age of 40 because I was going in the wrong direction and worked out a training plan with more
paid clases, theory and a lot of work. It took me 10 years to get mediocre at drawing.

I didn´t think for one second that it would be easier to just steal it from people who worked
their ass off even more.

Everyone on this forum is putting a lot of time and effort into the craft.
Don´t disrespect that with your unscrupulous consumer arguments
