Don't limit yourself to just the study of comics Because you're not gonna find many programs out there that are JUST for comics, considering that's stuff you can study on your own.
As someone said already, you don't need your name on a $20,000+++ piece of paper to get a job in the comic industry. Just practice your craft, create a strong portfolio, and you'll find your way.
If you actually want to go to school for it, then -go- into Illustration, or -go- into animation, or something like that. Sure, you'll be taking a lot of classes that won't have anything to do with comics -specifically-, but they will still help. Classes like these include Life Drawing, Animation, Storyboarding, Character Design, Writing, etc. These are -all- the building blocks to creating comics.
But again, you're not gonna find many schools dedicated to comics solely because that would be a very short and closed program, and they wouldn't make any money with that lol (there are a lot of people who want to draw comics, but even -more- people that want to become illustrators/get art degrees, get what I'm saying? It's like, it's more practical to take a program in Culinary Arts than to find a program in cupcake-baking just because I love making cupcakes specifically).
But again, if it's really JUST comics you want to study, then just self study. The thing with art is that too many people think they have to shell out thousands of dollars when, with a bit of self-discipline, a lot of practice, some textbook reading, free public classes, etc. quite a bit of the time they can just self-study and be at the same level as someone with a 4-year degree and a portfolio of equal (and maybe better) quality. Hell, I used to date a guy who's in like, his second or third year of art school, and he still hasn't sold a single one of his paintings, his skill is sub-par, and I've seen his portfolio bested by people still in high school.
Yeep.
