Complaint threads about things 95% of the forum dwellers don't like already. It's an unhelpful echo chamber.

Sorry not sorry. I've seen these complaining threads so many times in the last almost 3 years I've been here that uhm...yeah.

I think sometimes having a thread where you can complain is good since it gives us all a space to rant or let out frustrations. I did want this to be a thing where people talk about stuff they don't want to see and things they do want to see but lots of people (including me) are complainers lol.

edit: sometimes it feels like there's a forced friendliness or positiveness(?) here on the forums and I need somewhere to release my negative energy :joy:

This thread reminds me of how cringey my first month after entry into the webnovel realm :frowning: I feel awful for having contributed to some of the things I now join in with you complaining about because ugh it's all truths being told! I was slow to learn...

Maybe you don't do this, but whenever something annoying happens in my day, I'll feel better after talking about it to my friends. I just think of this thread as the same. It probably won't fix anything major but it did give me some relief to know others have similar thoughts to me. And reading through some of these did help give me ideas of what to do and what not to do when requesting for collaborations.

Sorry if you hate these kinds of threads ◠̈ I just created it when I was bored at 3 am and there weren't any interesting discussion posts.

I do agree 1000000000000000000000000000000% with this.
Even if the aforementioned posts are not of my likes, I understand the why of many of these exists (the sub4subs are a product of this site system who hasnt ever participated on one of them throw the first stone)

Even if people has the right to vent, actually the "I hate this and that" post actually are more harmful than what you think, as @nathanKmcwilliams they dont fix anything.
People who makes these threads havent even made at least a thread to fix the problem, give advice on what or how to do something, nothing, just complains about what they personally dont like.

Ive been participating less and less on this forum just because this kind of threads that in fact depresses me to the point of wondering why are we even alive.
Everyone hate averyone here in fact. Hates what others do or not doing, hates tropes, hates if you use multiple layers or one layer, hates if you like anime style or western, hates you if you write a certain topic or another, hates you for your beliefs or the lack of them, hates you for the genre you are creating, hates popular artists, hates premium artists, hates webtoon or Tapas system, hates, hates hates hates hates hates hates hates hates... for me hate is a very strong word I only use for really bad things or people irl but not for these silly things we should be actually enjoying or letting others enjoy or try whitout shaming them if they are not actually hurting anyone.

see what Im saying?
Now imagine someone with depression, artists being oversensitive and adding up shame on whatever is mentioned they've been doing for their personal dreams or enjoyment to distract themselves of this horrible world. Please.

Even I myself has thought "Wow I could be killed at any time because people will hate whatever I do and many of my things are in these lists of hate because people is crazy, even breathing for some people will be reason to hate me!" "If we continue hating everything and everyone it would be better if we all are dead" and I jsut have to stop and say to myself "f* these people and have my middle fingers Im gonna continue doing what I need or like to do"

Hate is a strong word when the fact is that you dont like something or just are annoyed about something, at least if you really need to complain be considerate and find a solution or ways to help to improve the problem/person its annoying you.

Just with this kind of threads I understand why Webtoon doesnt have forums.

Yeah this definitely wasn't my intention, like I said I just kind of made this post without thinking.

I used the words "hate/dislike seeing" because sometimes I like to exaggerate to get a point across. But everything else you said I can understand as I do have strong ups and downs and can feel embarrassed when I notice some things I do that bother others. But I forget not everyone is like me and maybe they can't brush off things like I can. I did want to see some replies of what others wanted to see

but I didn't even follow that myself so..

I'm really sorry to everyone who didn't like this thread! I didn't mean for this to be anything serious or harmful. I think I have a tendency to make threads that somehow go away from what the intended question/discussion was

This is something I've said ages ago on the forums but what helps is balance and I think better wording for the title may have helped. Folks complaining about the usual is very common around here but something like "Post you dislike/Changes you want to see" would even things out immediately because there's now immediate expectation to give a kind of pros cons list or have at least some positives to contribute.

I agree venting is necessary it's something I like to be able to do if given the opportunity given it doesn't make me feel like a burden but especially in a public forum balance is and will be necessary. I wont deny forced positivity absolutely can be and is an issue here on the Tapas forums which is why I think a silver lining approach might work best. Lets people who wish to complain do so and those who want to give positive suggestions or ideas can.

(Also super sorry if this ran long I'm very much a follow the train of thought to the end kind of person)

Nothing against you. I've just seen a lot of these over the years and I was mostly throwing in my two cents in the thread of things I don't like to see.

Which brings me to my other thing. If I don't like something then I try to counter it with something positive. I try to be a middle of the road person and understand where people come from, even if I don't agree.
Nothing wrong with venting, I just tend to do it with a closed circle of people, rather than an entire forum.
So I say, let the sub-4-subbers do their thing, it's really not hurting anyone. It's okay if people want to promote their work that their excited about. If I really don't want to see these things...I mute the category.

As for the Collab threads...any artist worth their salt will not bite, as much as it's annoying, it won't stop, because most of these posters drop their thread and dip out, they're likely doing it in a bunch of other places as well, so they'll have no regards for the rules whatsoever. So there's really no point in trying to make a system, because... they're not interested in the system. Easier just to mute the category.

@noenoh kinda nailed it on the head. It really is detrimental for newbies to see the gatekeeping, especially for younger people who're just making comics for fun, it sucks the fun right out of it.

So... that's just how I see things. We're all different people with different motives and views. I'm really not trying to dump on you here @sorible. Just expressing my viewpoint.

(While I was typing this out, @VibrantFox pretty much summed it up nicer than I did XD. The silver lining is something I always try to see.)

Agreed. That balance was exactly what I was trying to go for, but I was running on 0 sleep and got too lazy to change the title to "Any posts that you don't or want to see on the forums" or whatever.

I don't normally get to vent like this irl, usually I'm too worried of being a burden like you said, which is probably also why I made this.

No worries and I can totally understand ^^ Things happen and i think what's useful is when folks can calmly communicate those kinds of things. Growing up in a house full of libras has kinda forced me to really understand the importance of balance but it's all good

Y'all are starting to get somewhat positive here in my echo chamber smh stop that or I'll curse your families with only the mildest inconveniences in my arsenal

My guy I get what your trying to say but man there's somethings that just aren't true. Its easy to be a jerk on the forums but I don't think most people are jerks or overly negative. This platform aint easy to accumulate subscribers or even loyal readers so I think its good to help out people who are genuinely seeking it. And besides nice critique/ advice is much better than just ranting about their lack of insight or knowledge.

I personally though stay away from forums asking for feedback on plot and stuff and also forums that are basically sub for sub. Its just a waste of time and your'e better off first learning outside of the forums how to become a good writer/ artist then coming into the forums to ask for specifics.

Im in awe at this. Like major props to you, my budget to commission my artist(s) for my book cover was not that high. XD

nah never consumed one and don't intent to

but the handle snapped off the thing :[
