Any tips for people new to tapastic?

Hi! Due to issues with my previous main hosting site I'm looking to make tapastic my new main for both my current comic, and a comic I will be starting soon. (this time formatted vertically specifically for tapastic :D)

I know the basics of how to upload and such, but I'll admit much of tapastic still kind of confuses me, haha. Does anyone have any tips or tricks that might not be immediately obvious to someone just getting into messing with the site? Maybe some general means of creating an appealing work, formatting, norms for commenting, tips on using the site to it's best, really just anything you think someone might find helpful. Maybe there was something silly or not so silly that you were confused about early on. Share that! Even if it now seems obvious.

Follow any comics you like. Comment positively on the authors work. Stick to a regular updating schedule (or at least while you are still building up your fanbase. It seems that if you are really well known, you could effectively go months without updating your comic(s) and the fans will still be forgiving of you when you return)

Welcome to Tapastic! If you don't already, build up a buffer of pages first, that way if you're ever running late posting or something comes up and you can't work on comics for a while, you have back-ups to fall back on. One of the key things to keep people interested is to be regular with updates (at least once a week or so). Best of luck!

I'm already following your comic, and I don't see you doing this with that comic, but just in case... Don't make the mistake of putting the entirety of a single chapter into each episode. The term "episode" on this site is rather misleading for us longform creators. It's really hard to read 10+ pages stacked on top of each other, unless the entire chapter was drawn to be read in that specific format.

The universal basics apply: engage with your readers and reply to comments, don't be afraid to comment on other people's comics when you have something positive to say, etc etc.

One thing specific about Tapastic is the ability to post on other people's profiles. Some creators choose to post a thank you image on their subscribers' profiles. Some readers love them, some don't care; either way, it's a positive gesture, AND an acceptable way of subtly advertising your comic. Put your art in the thank you image, and when other people visit that person's profile, they might go "hm, who's this character? I wanna check out their comic."

The best thing you can do is to update regularly and respond to comments as they come in. I am going to definitely start reading your stuff! Thanks for posting it here.
