Earlier today, a fellow Tapas colleuge sent me an invite link to create an account on a new social media platform called Bluesky, which I never heard of until today. Just wanted to make this thread to see if anyone else had an account there. I will link my account too but to anyone who doesnt have an account, you do need an invite code to make one and I dont know the exact rules on sharing said invite code just yet.

To anyone who is unware, Bluesky is basically twitter but without the baggage associated with that platform. (And Im not just referring to when Elon took over. It's always been the internet's most toxic platform, all Elon did was pour a truck of gasoline onto it)

I've been lucky enough to be on Bluesky for a few months now and have been enjoying it a lot! It's been great for reconnecting with friends and also for helping to promote my webnovel

I've been there for a while

It's pretty chill... and I feel like in artists sphere there's a better culture around artshares (way less ignoring people participating :P)

I don't think there's any strict rules around sharing the invite codes, it is just not recommended to just post them as text on stuff like public tweets as then they're most likely to be snatched by bots

Excellent point about not posting the invite codes in public tweets.

Do not post them in posts/skeets on bluesky either. I tried sending one to a friend a few months ago that way and it also got snatched. That was before Bluesky posts were public as well.

They also did announce that the invite code system will be going away soon as well, I think. So that's also something to keep in mind. There's probably going to be a big influx of folks joining when that happens.

I'm on there too, mostly just watch Neil Gaiman being wholesome and other artists friends. It seems to be more well known in Europe because we didn't get all the Threads debacle until a couple of weeks ago and not many people seem to like the idea of more Facebook (also for some reason instagram is advertising threads to me by showing me "tweets" of people desperately trying to get their algorithm go stop showing them far right hate speech and just generally not having a good time on there? Weird). Anyway, Bluesky seems more chill.

had it for a while thanks to someone here sharing a code. i dont really use it much save for checking in on folks who've left twitter to go there but other than that it just kinda sits there

i do have some codes if people need them so folks are welcome to reach out if theyre interested

im vibrantfox on there too

I've had like 5 invites that I've tried to give away to no success. I'd just drop them here but, y'know, bots.

I will warn you: The gay dudes and the sex-based furries there got no fucking chill so expect a lot of erections with your morning coffee if you dare follow the What's Popular feeds.

To be clear- I still prefer that to the Matt Walsh/ Elon Musk/ Ian Cheong style shit for brains that are going to flood the place once it opens to everyone.

If you like wholesome I highly recommend Chuck Tingle's feed.

Oh....Ah fuck. Are there content filters? :skull:

Agreed. I have an nsfw art account where Im only for posting, and because of that, most of the recommended posts come from far right twitter people. I like how Elon's attempt at adding more free speech to the platform invited these extremists to spew their garbage. He's somehow made twitter worse than it was before him

I have one, but I haven't had time to use it much. Always nice to find more people to follow though!

Yeah, but it doesn't work worth a damn. The best option is to simply not use the "popular" feeds and focus on a few topics.

But, I mean, if you're okay with butts and nuts alongside whatever news the popular feeds brings, they can be pretty useful to subscribe to.

I forgot about the messed up content filter. I've been lucky and usually just follow the feed of who I'm subscribed to follow. Sometimes they do repost butts though

I do draw that stuff on occasion so it'll prboably wont effect me..........but at the same time, there's a time in place for me to see that stuff and thats not all the time XD

Update: Did not find any wee wees but I found vore.........God help us :cry_swag:

I have been hoping to trying out Bluesky eventually. Alas, I'm kinda waiting for it to kinda go public and ready to move off of Twitter. I'm not really active on it anyway. From what I'm hearing here, Bluesky looks to be a lot better than Threads where I agree, IG is really weird promoting it where there is so much "Hate speech". Like is this is how get people on your platform?

Btw, you don't need an invite code to get on the site, you can just sign up for the wait list and they'll get back to you. Just download the app and start the signup process. It'll take a while, but if you're not in a rush, they'll send you a code eventually.

I'm on the sky site...been there since July.

@NellieVP318 While [some] folks are trying to be a lot better, there is still some of the mess there that goes on at almost every social media sites.

@KennethLopezJr921 I'm linked to some folks that post NSFW art there...

I have some codes as well.

The only issue I would say right now with the site is that since it's still relatively new, it's hard to drum up people to look at your work/art or follow you on your spaces like Patreon and ko-fi...

this was pretty much his intent though and he never really attempted to hide it either especially since you can see it in the way he's interacted with folks on the platform even before the buyout. like yeah there's the money thing too but he wouldnt have undone some of those permanent bans if he was opposed to it
