Anyone feel embarrassed reading their older comics?

My early stuff consisted of like, really bad fancomics of jokes between me and friends at most... none the less

I am completely embarassed by them :'D COMPLETELY.

Ffff you kidding, I love my old stuff, it's simultaneously entertaining in how bad it is and it's fun to see how much my stuff has changes. I've pretty much had the same characters since I started taking visual art seriously, and it's interesting to go though the timeline of how they've changed physically and personality wise.

My old practice pages, and attempts at comics? They're gold, the lack of understanding for anything is very clear, and the art is nearly terribad; but I still remember how much I enjoyed working on them. I can't be embarrassed because there's nothing to be embarrassed about, we all start somewhere, and it's nice to do some comparisons when you're feeling down.

Actually, since I'm so shameless about my old abominations, here's a link to a blog my friend runs if you like looking at people's old stuff, since I can't bring myself to throw away drawings I give her a pile to do whatever with every so often; and she decided to make a blog out of it. Lawl. It's not all comics, and there's some gory stuff and gay and some nudity... pretty much anything most people would find NSFW, but there's some page attempts on there. Don't mind the comments below some of the posts, she's very eccentric.
Maybe someday I'll even post my first real attempt at a comic, 'We All Must be Daft', somewhere for the world to see again. Just for the entertainment of how old it is.

I love to read through the comic series I drew in high school (really basic stuff written and drawn in spiral bounds, still have all of them too!)

But yeah sometimes I go through them and think "I really thought that way?!"
Overall I'm still proud of them, I had some great jokes in them. sighs fondly

I have TONS of old comics in sketch books and loose paper in two boxes in the corner....Los Esmeraldas is actually a "reboot" of a story was trying to make about 10 years ago, I didn't have the skills but I tried anyway....oh man is it pure garbage, unorganized and a mess, but we all have to start somewhere. I wish I could show my past doubtful and miserable self, how awesome I grew up to be. lol

I don't! When i look at the comics i used to draw as a kiddo, it hits me with nostalgia and as bad as the art was, i love looking at them again. Got about 2 notebooks full of comics i used to do with my back then best friend ^^

I mostly don't but dear god there was this edgy angsty teen pace.... I'm so thankful that I didn't upload them anywhere in the internet :'DDD But I love the stuff I came up with when I was a kid. No cringe at all just love.

I laugh then cry whenever I read the Final Light prototype, cause whooo I was so proud of my art until few months ago in which I changed my style, learned some techniques and also learned better narrative, I just- screaming internally

My first few chapters on my current series are just down right embarrassing, art-wise and just some key moments where I perhaps had a lapse of judgement. I've gone back and edited a few glaringly obvious mistakes, but if I get into the mindset, I'd be forever redoing bits.

Funnily enough, I'm not too harsh on older fan comics (as bad as they are), the art was somewhat consistent throughout because I didn't deviate too much from the source material I guess.

Mostly it's the art that makes me cringe. Heck even for older chapters of my stuff that's currently active. I'm surprised that I still get subscribers to Raven Wolf the first chapter is just... not very well done art and layout wise.

All the time! I haven't felt embarrassed to read any of my older pages from Cosmos Song because that stuff is still relatively new. But anything older than maybe 5 years, I shutter when I look back on them! And when it comes to my earliest work, I flat out can't look at them with a straight face. I end up laughing at my own old, horrible attempts of my first comic xD!

yeah XD I never got past the paneling stages, but I did get pretty far into developing a story 5 years ago... so bad.. SO SO BAD... the plot, art, and characters were just really flawed, and honestly, I don't think I was ready to start a comic at that point.

I never uploaded any of my older works but any time I see my old comics I always realize I've come a long way from how I was to how I am now.

I have tons of old comics that I just stopped working on, most of them with more than 100 pages.
But I love going back and rereading them, if the story was good enough I would go back and rewrite it/draw it.
And comparing my art to what it was is HORRIBLE! A few old pieces can be found on my DA account.

my 1st official webomic I made was 10+ years ago, host in keenspace/comicgenesis. It got around 100+ pages before I discontinue them due to various of reasons. The current webcomic I had in tapastic was a prequel from the one which I made 10 years ago. The quality obviously very different and plot are very childish yet bold + interesting.

YES, I FEEL VERY EMBARRASSED READING THEM!!! YOU R NOT ALONE >////< But thanks to it, it motivate me to do the current webomic and the old one is going to be my precious treasure. I do had plan to remake but maybe its better to complete the current one 1st.

Haha yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!! I usually have 2 reactions to my OOOLDER comics:
1-"Lol, I suppose it is really funny if I laugh so much time after writing/drawing it... THIS IS GOLD"
2-"WTF how I was supposed to think that this was so great, killmenowplz"

From all I save something, indeed, and dependid how good/bad it is, I always have the possibility of remake.

Yes, every time I finished a comic and look over it I hate to see all this mistake I made. But even more I hate the thought that everyone else see this mistakes and fails, too. -___- ;
