To be perfectly and blatantly honest (which most redditors are lol) I think the subreddit would take off better if the first thread was maybe a stickied "welcome to the community, this is tapastic, etc. etc." type thread, not an insta-ad for a webcomic on Tapastic. In that regard it would be something like /r/TapasticPlugs or something. If it's going to be an actual community the first thread shouldn't just be "read my comic here", there should at least be a stickied thread somewhere (even if it's not the first, as long as it's an early post) that introduces outsiders to the place, goes over the rules, what's allowed, what isn't allowed, who the mods are, etc etc.

That's only the top post because it's the only post anyone has made. We need more active members that's why I'm posting here. In fact if you would like to make a post like that I will be glad to sticky it for you.

That's exactly my point lol All's I'm saying is, if you're going to break in a subreddit that's meant for community interaction, it's best to do so with something that's not an advertisement. Undoubtedly people will be sharing their comics in there, but when it's the very first thread, it'll give newbies to the subreddit a kind of bad vibe, both new and veterans to Tapastic.

If you want me to make one I'll gladly do so, but typically that's something up to the moderators for the subreddit themselves/the creator, because they're the ones that know the initial rules and guidelines that are specific to that subreddit.

I think I'm just being super picky tho lol

I've been on reddit before. Really can't stand the way the Karma system there works as people will often abuse it just so they can earn like a thousand or more upvotes every day thus enabling them to post more even if their posts lack substance. Likewise, if you post an opinion that goes against the grain say in r/videogames for example, but isn't hostile in anyway, prepare to more often that not get down voted into oblivion by mindless reddit users which depending on your karma level can make it harder to post on reddit even if you didn't do anything wrong aside from simply state your humble opinion on whatever.

That said, I don't think this sub reddit for Tapastic will have that problem. As long as people aren't breaking the rules in anyway, I don't think the sub reddit OP made will have the problem of karma whoring and downvote circle jerking that I've seen so prevalent in some sub reddits like the aforementioned one about video games.

Reddit has always been weird for me, I just can't get it into it for some reason. I think i've made like 5 different accounts over the course of the last 3 years.

I'm on Reddit a bit to promote my art on Furry. I get a lot of hits from them. But nothing else has worked for me. I could never figure out where to promote my comic on there.

Actually, Tapastic + Reddit hasn't really mixed well.

On most subreddits like /r/comics and /r/webcomics Tapastic links show up as spam links to the moderators of those subreddits and the posts go largely unnoticed (not even up or down voted, just ghosted). This is a problem that still exists.

Also a while ago someone else tried to start a Tapastic subreddit, and it still very small and pretty much dead.

So just be careful when posting links to other subreddits, always read the rules, and don't anger the mods. Links from imgur work the best on reddit even over official webcomic site links.

I'm on reddit as _saint, and I post on /r/comic_crits occasionally, which is a subbreddit for people looking for feedback on their comics. It's a pretty good subreddit, if a little slow. Maybe some people on these forums would like to check it out?
