Art styles: which is your goal?

I have an anime/manga style... I guess my goal is to reach a point where I can just draw a lot of things without needing references all the time. I feel like every time I want to draw a background or a more interesting pose I have to find a handful of references before I can even attempt the picture. I want to just be able to kinda wing it more while still producing decent quality.

Oh I do have a secondary style... it's like Derpy cute things? I dunno how to explain it, but it's the style i use to draw stuff for my kid in public, it's a front so none of my friends know I can draw IRL XD

everyone says i have an art style that no one has ever seen before tbh. I'm so realist on my backgrounds that my quite realist characters look cartoonish by comparison.

I don´t think about style that much but i do lean to ward semi-realistic European style.

have you done some master studies? or working in a different medium - i found that making images for screenprint helped me break out of a sketchy style bc it had no shades of grey.

Many people say that Hexameron and my art in general looks "too anime" to them, so it is still not on the western side... Which I'm totally okay with.
So, the problem is that my style is always changing, not sure I have one!
I try not to change it in the comic and I'm fine with how Hexameron looks right now. I will change it a little in the continuation of the series, try to make it not so childish and cute... because it is now? Well, okay, I'm drawing children, they should be cute. So, something more mature will suit better.

I have no consistent art style and instead just constantly experiment X) Ideally I want to be able to choose a style according to the needs of a particular project, then leave it and choose another when necessary (i.e. I don't want to be capable of only drawing well in one style). So rather than having style-specific goals, my goal is just to become more competent in general.

That said, one goal I've had for a long time is to be able to draw things that don't seem like generic anime/manga. I feel like I've (mostly) gotten there, although I'm not sure how much is due to my art actually looking less like anime/manga and how much is due to just making peace with the way it already looks.

I have three comics. each one has different style. one has a comic strip style and it basically 99% copy paste,
it's bi-weekly.
2nd comic is total cartoon. it's style is very childish and mimic mid 20 century cartoons and animated commercials.
very simple design between rubber hose and stretchable design. (Cup head style to Hannabarbera style).
my 3rd comic is a manga style comic, which I suck at it. I can copy scenes and characters in a satisfactory manner, but can't layout my original work in a non flat way or in a manga style.
My goal is the middle give it the manga feel but still give it the cartoonish touch.

not quite sure what my style is but I think its more "manga American", dunno lol but I do know one thing, I strive to improve and I'm not going to switch at all. no need. I want to stand out. there is a generic webtoon style going on and I do not want to be in that category because that too shall come to pass so why change when you can find your own style and what you are comfortable with.
don't focus on changing styles just focus on developing, learning and improving. your style will eventually come with constant practice. word of advice.

I think at this point I'm pretty much where I want to be with my art style. I want my art to look kind of cartoony while keeping some realistic elements and being original at the same time.

This thread hits home to a dilemma that I've having right now. I've always had a manga/cartoonish art style. I want a manga/semi-realistic style. Trying to achieve as close to perfection as possible is stressful if I spend to much time drawing. My issue is that I believe that I can make the art work look really good if I put my mind to it. The problem is that I would have to go from spending 2 weeks on a picture to 6 months. I'm going to continue to fight through the stressful issue and continue to slowly improve my speed and art work one step at a time. I really want to become great at the manga/semi-realistic style.

My goal is to create as many comic pages as possible, yet once in a while dabble in somewhat realistic and detailed panels. I, too, gravitated to a more cartoony style (reverting back to Black & White), since it allows for me to go minimalist and have my characters look more expressive than they were when I was going full manga style, not that it's all too big of a difference.

Honestly, this decision was a long time coming and now I can make a page a day whenever I get time off.

Keep an expressive art and cartoonish art style I currently got going on, but hopefully do more work on making backrounds nice. Oh, and do hands that aren't Butch Hartman-golf club hands. XD
That, and I'm always paranoid that everything's a wee bit too cartoony, so hopefully learn to dial back so that way when serious/sad/dramatic bits happen people can actually take'm seriously.

Yes we are basically the same in this, though right now i took a break from semi-realism to focus more in the occidental cartoon style, so i stress myself less about anatomy and perfection. Really relaxing! (And some people told me that it looks more personal too).
I just recently found out that semi-realism is really hard to make it yours a style, mostly because many people draw in that way and it can be hard being recognized in the art crowd....so yeah, semi-realism is kinda hard to achieve and make it yours.

It's sort of manga/anime with sometimes a semi-realistic look? My problem is consistency and able to do natural/different poses with less stiffness. Maybe one day.
