I'm starting a list of books and comics with transgender characters (that I've read) and maybe review them a bit.
This is a new premium comic, only one episode is out at the time of writing this, but I really like it so far and it has a really nice concept. I have high hopes for this one.
This is a romance and it's completed. Great art style too. If you're into a nice queer romance with a happy ending, this is it.
The second of a series with a trans girl. Not many episodes have been posted at the time of writing but I'm really looking forward to it because I really liked the author's other book Her Elysium.
A premium novel with a queer romance and a nice writing style. Theras and Alexi has a really nice relationship.
By the same author as The Boy Princess. Also a premium book.
A slice of life with trans and genderqueer characters.
By the same author as Spectrum.
Prequel to I Was Melody.
A romance by the same author as Spectrum and I Was Melody.
Short comics by a trans man.
Short comics by a different trans man.
Short autobiographical comics.
More short autobiographical comics.
More short comics.
Not a main character but this comic has a non-binary character!
Yes, there's a trans character in this book (though not a main character), and I thought his character was unique for a trans character (like he's a dick but also sympathetic). It's also pretty funny.
One of the magical girls is a trans girl, though just a note that episode 12 calls her a guy, but other than that, I liked literally everything.
Khaos Komix is not on Tapas but two of its stories are from the perspective of trans characters (Tom and Charlie). This was the first webcomic I've read with trans characters and it will always be somewhat special to me.
Other books:
Every Heart a Doorway, the first of the Wayward Children has a trans male character. I also really liked the author's writing style, very creative setting, and there's a lot of diversity in the characters as well as it being a portal fantasy book. Maybe Kade will get his own book one day...
Alex As Well has an intersex girl who was assigned male. I really liked Alex as a character and there are funny moments in the book. Though it's not perfect, I found the two Alex thing confusing, and the later part of the book fell a bit loose plot wise.
The Art of Being Normal is about transgender teens. It's not bad and it's pretty good at being informative but it can get a bit stereotypical at times.
Yes, please expand this list and add more books/comics with transgender/non-binary characters.
