No, it was on topic. Good story telling is the kind of stuff I always enjoy, being a story teller myself, as I'm sure most of us are. While I'm not telling a particular story currently on Tapastic, I am using "stories" to illustrate points that I want to address, or simply things that come to mind. The idea right now is to have an outlet of a sort, so as to speak out about things that I have conviction about, but also with intentions to invoke the reader to think, or question. Maybe at some point I will develop a story line that also addresses the deeper issues.
Speaking to people of all world views is important, I agree- it's bothersome when people are too outright about what they believe. I never understood what people meant when they said that Christians "shove their beliefs down their throats", when there was no forcing of any idea. However, now that I've heard my fair share of opinionated people who speak as if their opinion is fact, I understand the phrase, though I still don't think the hyperbole is necessary. I think application and adversity are very important for people who wish to teach, or at least share.
However, I've found that very many people here seem to equate Christianity with religion, and I'm sort of confused. Christianity at it's core, or at least in the respect of how Jesus taught it, is literally the antithesis of religion. When I said Christian themes, constructive purposes or challenging readers to think, I wasn't really talking about religion as much as world views. Although I suppose religion can play a part in those things, if the religion is in direct relationship with the world view.
@vincentprendick, Yes, Chronicles of Narnia and The Lord of the Rings are literally the two prime examples of good story telling that is strewn with Christian allegories and themes, although I believe LotR is more Catholic? Regardless, pretty much the most successful examples of what I'd be looking for on Tapastic. Although I think even then Chronicles could be more overt, maybe? Maybe.
@RuS, I actually do enjoy your work, you have a very unique style that sets you apart, I think. Which is super awesome, because it's resembling in that respect, that you are set apart. Super neat =3
@moisesarias096, I forgot that I didn't respond to you- what is the purpose of your comic? What is the underlying core of what you want to accomplish with it, being that it's set during the thousand year period? Which, by the way, is a super interesting time in history to explore, not many really go into that uncharted territory since we only know so much about it.
@mjmassey, I'm super curious about that plot point- they join a Wicca team? Judging by the nature of Catholicism and the nature of Wicca practices, doesn't that contradict the fact that they are fighting demons? In my understanding of Wicca, it is a form of witchcraft, yes? Witchcraft involves demons in it's practices, so I'm confused as to how Wicca followers would fend off demons with demonic practice- unless, of course, I've misunderstood the identity of Wicca practice.
