Cliches that you LOVE

i am a sucker for a good love triangle, when it's done well. Like, when it's used to illustrate that even if character a swore undying eternal love to character b, it's okay to change and want different things, like character c.

or if it's used for contrast. say character a and c have great chemistry and would be great together, I like it when character a dates character b first, or even a couple other people before character c. it shows how all those other people just weren't quite right for them, but character c is.

my favorite outcome of a love triangle tho is when characters a b and c realize they all love each other and yay polyamory <3

I am also a sucker for well written love triangles. except movies once i see a love triangle in a movie instant polyamory (aka starwars:tfa or book of life) i find alot of movie don't write it well (some can but far and few between). but love triangles in books or tv shows i eat it up all the time even if i say i don't.

All of the options you have said are great. I love the ones where character A ends up with someone who they have more chemistry with.

((the best love triangles are when Character A is with character B and character C accepts it because they want them to be happy and still stay friends it's great))

Haha, I'm glad to hear few people saying they like the amnesia trope. When I started my comic I was afraid of people being turned off by my main character not having memories. But it serves a specific story purpose, and not just thrown in for the sake of obscuring the plot, so maybe people who hate the trope can forgive me on that one ;u;

The raw passion and the ballsyness of it. As someone that's really easily anxious it's just nice to see that some people (fictional or not) have their lives together enough that they can just do that, as a relationship is exactly the kind of thing you DON'T want to do out of the blue.

Not sure if it's a clichés and more of a trope but I looove characters who were once the Big Bad but slowly end up being the weird awkward friend/aunt/uncle. That shits my jam!

The troll/grump who's actually soft on the inside.
Akane from Jitsu wa Watashi spends most of her time screwing with everybody

But deep down she has a tender heart and really cares about people.

I guess I've got a soft spot for secret softies. But hate tsunderes. That needs to stop.

I always enjoy when a bully and their victim actually find that they like each other. I actually didn't realize how much of a trope this was until my sister told me lol, but there's something so satisfying to see all that negative energy get resolved! Like you've been holding your breath and can finally breathe.

Also when a bright, innocent character gets attached to a prickly, unfriendly one ^-^ One of my favorite examples is the manga "Hana to Akuma" by Oto Hisamu or the webtoon "Rodiura Kurashi"

Ahah maybe someone has already mentioned this (i only got to read part of the thread) but just. Unapologetically good characters, who don't bend to cynicism and who solves their problems by just being aggressively kind, even when things get bad for them. Of course, this trope gets a bad rap for when characters go through life like this without facing ANY kinds of consequences, but i think it can be done super well!! Dr. Kenzo Tenma from Monster and Steven from Steven Universe are the first that come to mind for me. I know everyone seems to love their dark cynical dramas but seeing characters who can maintain their goodness even in the midst of darkness gives me hope :'D

I've actually been wishing for MORE of this trope. Recently i've become tired and slightly annoyed with the dark and grittty characters in mainstream media (nothing wrong with dark and gritty characters but they need to be written well and not in overabundance)

I just saw the new power ranger's trailer and all of the kids are just so miserable it just made me wish for more stevens wanders and mabels in media.

"More stevens wanders and mabels" YES!! And not just in children's media, i feel like adult media would benefit a lot from this too. My favorite example to use is Naoki Urasawa's manga and anime Monster, which is on the surface a pretty dark story about serial murderers and oppressive social systems, ("adult" content if there ever was any) but i consider it one of the most optimistic stories I've ever read, due to the main characters struggling so hard to be kind and good throughout the whole thing. It doesn't shy away from negative consequences in the world, but it also doesn't shy away from the fact that goodness does exist in the world alongside evil, and that doesn't make it less valuable... and now im just rambling but yess

I too am a sucker for the opposites attract/grump and not-so-grump trope (but not the "bully and the bullied turns into friends"-trope, sorry, I'm not comfortable with that) <3
I'm also a sucker for the "big and strong, but quite the softie"-character type ^^
(needless to say, I kinda use both tropes in my own comic)

Oh my gosh, I gotta say I'm a sucker for the Monster of the Week trope. The modern media industry kinda avoids it more these days even going as far as advising show pitches to stray away from it entirely. But... flip, I can't help but kinda love it, even if it ususally devolves into weak writing.

Anyway for those that don't know, Monster of the Week is a show style that uses a new monster, baddie or alien as the center conflict of every episode. Power Rangers, Pokemon, and Scooby Doo are probably the most cut-and-dry examples of the trope in action.

Although my favorite shows always twist on this cliche, turning each conflict into a larger story rather than isolated events. ;D I'm lookin' at you Steven Universe.
