I've been using CSP Pro and loving it, but wondering whether it's worth it to upgrade to the EX version.

My question is, what features do you like / use the most in CSP EX that aren't present in Pro?

Would love to see some insight / opinions.

the 3d model LT Function... really helps with Backgrounds

this feature basically takes a 3d model and outlines it so you dont have to trace it

Ah, that does sound convenient, although I am not used to using 3d models for anything.

Does it let you actually create 3d models in CSP or do you have to import from another program?

well they recently came out with Clip Studio Modeler, its free if you have Clip Studio Paint in general. i figured this is where you can make 3d models but to my disappointment, i was sent back to blender TwT CSM is just an importer and rigging software

I mainly upgraded to EX so that I could use the story function & look at all my pages, but I love that the "assets feature is HUGE- access to a LOT more brushes/pens/material than Pro.

I'm still discovering the program as a whole so I have lot more to learn, but I'm not in a rush to do everything.

I animate a lot in CSP so EX's endless frame limit is great! Pro only allows up to 24 frame I think.
Also the story function stuff is sooo cool like being able to see all your comic pages at once is awesome! It also lets you batch-export and I think it also auto-numbers pages if you want it to? (Haven't tried that yet but I def will in the future).

Like other said before; Animating and story management is my favorite part of EX. If anyone wants to get more into animating, this is a great alternative to TVpaint (though it doesn't have audio so that's a downer). I also have one file for all my pages, making it very convenient to switch back n forth from them.

I just upgraded from Pro, and right away I love the story function to see all of your pages. Ito have to experiment more see what else I'll like about it.

I just upgraded to EX and I was really looking forward to the story function, but I'm not so sure after finding some huge flaws in it (and if anyone knows how to solve, I would love to hear how!). I am very much so a stickler on how my files are organized (which is why I was so interested in being able to have multiple pages right there!) but upon trying to make a story I found three big flaws: 1. I had to import pages one by one, manually, into a new story. There was no way to take a bunch of pages and make them into one. Very slow and tedious. 2. It makes a new image and you cannot change the file name. 3. The file naming convention it forces you into makes no sense whatsoever and adding in a page to the MIDDLE of the story then added a page to the END of the folder it's in because it does everything in numerical order and doesn't understand reordering pages.

Again, if anyone knows how to solve any of these issues, I would love to know! At this point because of these issues, I don't think I can use it. Maybe when I start a new chapter I might try it again.

So I upgraded but I haven't used any features from upgrading yet.... :frowning:

You have to right click on the story management display thing that shows you the comic pages side by side and click Batch Process -> Batch Import.

As for the reordering I have no Idea and I would suggest just importing all the files as into a new story and delete the old one.

I have 0 issues with the naming so I don't know what to tell you. I personally never to anything with the actual clip files and always batch export the story or manage the files inside clip studio paint.

Story management is the greatest thing to grace the planet. I'd still be using Photoshop if it wasn't for that.

I just downloaded the trial version and am tempted to get the EX version since a sale is going on. However, I do much of my art in vector format (using Illustrator and Flash) before rasterizing it for print. The ability to use easy screentones and dialogue balloons seem to be the most appealing features, but I'm not sure it's enough.

What does EX easily do that Photoshop and Illustrator have trouble doing?

Whelp, that probably would have gone well, but apparently it doesn't let you select CSP files for import......

I don't have any problems importing CSP files to stories...? I wonder what the difference is. I just have to click Story(P) --> import page and it lets me do that.

But I agree with people that not being able to name the files as you please is annoying. Otherwise it's really nice to be able to see everything at once.

(meant to edit that previous post, not delete :'''D ...And now I notice that un-delete button. Oh well.)

Story -> Import does allow you to add CSP files however Batch Import does not, which is weird. This software isn't very intuitive at all the there are lots of these issues throughout.

There are vector layers in Clip Studio Paint.

Aside from the comic specific things like tone, and panels you can do everything Clip Studio Paint can do in Photoshop and illustrator. That includes animation and importing 3D objects. I mean the big thing about CSP is there is no subscription(not the iPad version because apple prefers it that way). It isn't really amazing at doing anything but comics, it's rather average at doing everything especially text but that's somewhat a good thing because you won't need multiple software to get your work done. It does a lot of stuff for the price which is why people switch to it and because they dislike Adobe.

Personally I've started using CSP EX with the affinity programs to cover for the tings CSP sucks at without getting a subscription or outdated software.

I just bought it to upgrade today, I dunno if it was worth it yet, but I'll find out

I wouldn't want someone to pirate my stuff, so why would I do it to someone else? There are free programs that work just as well, there is no need to do that.

I currently use pro so I was kinda curious about the extra features. Then I saw this:

I am sold. I bought it literally just now for this lmao. I can spend hours adjusting text and lining up bubbles. There's a ton of other fun stuff too I see. $100 (or 80 ish for me) is a steal for something this convenient.
