Are you serious?? That's not a very fair way to put it at all.
A common misconception in making webcomics (or anything really) is that you're going to be an overnight sensation; that's just not how it works.
You shouldn't make comics to be rich.
You shouldn't make comics expecting to become insanely famous overnight (if ever).
You can't compare someone else's success to your own.
You work hard, you love what you do, and you will get results. But it will take time. It's not fair to talk about older (as in been here for a while) artists like they're these magical demi-gods that just snapped their fingers to make fame appear. If anything, they're ROLE MODELS. They worked hard. They had talent. They had a story to tell. They were creative. And they did well. Just like you will, as long as you're patient.
This might be helpful to read, though (it's pretty good):
That said...
There are a couple of threads to promote us younger (as in new) artists/comic makers, right here on the forums.
Best of luck, sorry if this comes across as aggressive. I'm just trying to keep it real
