In Canada, for the more Northern areas, it's common courtesy to leave the cars of your doors unlocked so people have somewhere to go in case of polar bears.
Also speaking of polar bears. Northwest territories have polarbear shaped licence plates
Moose like to go into parking lots and lick the salt off of cars.
There's actually not a 'Canadian accent' there are several Canadian accents depending on province and area, not just one. Newfoundlanders probably have the heaviest and most noticeably unique in concerns to accents
I'm not 100% sure on the shoe thing because I'm also Asian and that's very much an Asian thing, but I do notice that most households practice this especially in the wetter colder months.
I know this is not uncommon for other countries but I had an American friend that was visiting where this blew his mind when he saw it. But there's several wildlife here that's coats turn white in the winter to blend in with the snow.
