My webcomic is titled "The Hidden Monachopsis." This wasn't my original title for the comic though.
I started my webcomic 2 years ago under the title of "What Lurks in the Forest." That title is pretty much clear; it's basically that there are weird creatures in the forest.
After I went on a long hiatus, I had watched a video talking about branding. It was more about music, but it had some really good advice in there about getting your content known better. From what I learned there was that my title was 1) Way too long (as I had already known) but I needed to shorten it 2) It already kind of spoils what the premise will be later on (which isn't too bad, but I wanted it to be a bit more inconspicuous) and 3) My title was not unique enough. When you look the title up, my page would pop up but so would other people's pages on things unrelated to my comic.
With that, I decided to rename my comic and actually put thought into it.
This may seem weird, but the easiest word I found that I wanted in my title was monachopsis. It's an uncommon word that is the persistent feeling of being out of place. This feeling relates very well to one of my characters and others as well without giving away the premise and also hides the biggest spoiler in the entire comic. The thing was that monachopsis is a noun, so I wanted an adjective to go before it, and finding an adjective for that word was absolutely difficult. Eventually I thought of The Silent Monachopsis. It was the best thing I thought of at that time. Fast forward a couple months, and I was about to post about my comic coming up by posting the cover. I typed out The Silent Monachopsis onto it, but then I finally thought of The Hidden Monachopsis. Not only did it fit the story more, but it also just felt right. As a result, I now have a comic title that is unique, fits to the story, and one that I truly love.
Sorry for the rambling! Anyways, the first page premiered yesterday, so check it out if you want to!
