Do you get attached to your supplies/computers?

So I bought a new laptop because I need more space and better specs, its superior to my previous one in every way and runs games beautifully, but I'm getting weirdly sad about the idea of moving from my current one to the new one. I have everything I needed transferred and personalized everything but idk, I can't really shake the feeling. Has anyone else dealt with stuff like this?

I had that once a few years ago. It was less about not being able to let go of the old one though but more about the new one not having the right 'feel'. Like the hardware and software was all good but the way it was designed and the material used just didn't feel right to me. In the end, I went to exchange it for another one (I only tried it for like one afternoon before I decided I couldn't bring myself to use it so it was basically still new) and was very happy with that one for the following years.

my new one is actually from the same product line and brand, just updated to recent tech. it feels pretty natural when i use it.

Yeah; I've had to say goodbye to two laptops already, and I didn't even buy those for myself (when the time comes to lay to rest the 400$ one I use now...there may be tears).

In general I get VERY attached to my things; I hate to lose anything or even throw anything away until I'm positive that I can't use it anymore. The two former laptops are still in my house, and I'm the only one in my family now with a phone that's over 5 years old. I just...can't let go...

I went through a lot of used laptops which broke down pretty fast, so didn't get a chance to get attached to those, but I DO get attached to cellphones. A few years back I used to have this Samsung with qwerty keyboard and I loved it so much I didn't want to move to touchscreen phones.

And I don't think I'll let go so easily of my current phone. xD

My current laptop is over 10 years old. Her name is Karen. She is practically my daughter. I am throwing her a birthday party in February.

My laptop is cheap and so is not very powerful or good-looking. I bought it several years ago, when I was short of money.
But I still feel a bit bad about replacing if with a better one, even if I am able to do it now. I don't like to get rid of things, which are still working well. And of course, I have got accustomed to this small computer so much.
In fact, my new phone costs more, than this poor old thing... Weird, right?

I had to replace my desktop with a laptop this year because my desktop... quite literally exploded. I was very attached to that computer, though, so it really did take some getting used to the new one before I felt at all comfortable with the new tech.

As far as supplies are concerned, though, I get... way too attached. I have some erasers and pencils that are so small they're hardly usable anymore, yet I'm so attached to them that I can't bear to throw them away. I know I should, and I know my life will be so much easier if I just use a new one... but I try to put it off as long as possible.

I think it's the idea of starting over after having an already established set up and routine. I know I sometimes feel this way with getting new computers or tablets. It's just gonna be different and change is hard.

well, I'm having this problem with my Wacom tablet. even though I have the newest version with the screen on it i'm not used to it and i can't get myself to transition. its horrible because I'm so used to the tablet without the screen, i'm thinking maybe its too small and that's why it's hard for me. bu who knows, i keep trying and hopefully someday i will because if not, i'll sell it and get a completely different brand.

I don't like to change computer, but I'm starting to get used to it.
I still have my first computer. From 1991. I'm very attched to it. But the following ones, I'm less attached to, I only kept the disks.

ooh yeah i went through that when i got a display tablet. my back was also hurting a lot for the first week from having to sit up straighter because i have to have it angled upwards like a canvas to draw comfortably. it definitely gets easier to use though and now i find regular tablets kinda unusable after having my cintiq for 2 years.

I've had the same laptop for 9 years. Currently, it is literally falling to pieces, the battery is addicted and the screen doesn't even stand up alone anymore. It is basically a low-performance desktop at this point. I'm going to get a new one in a few months, but I've come to be very sentimental with this fellow. I'll be sad to watch him go away, but I think he deserves his retirement. He has done his job, and now it's time for him to relax.
That's how I see it.

my Casio calculator I had it since I was 14. All the labels on the buttons have long since came off. I only know which button is which by memory. So that pretty much lead to any one who ask to borrow it immediately giving it back as they realize my buttons are unlabeled. I can get a new texas interments graphing calculator(it would be preferable really). But The calculator has been with my for years I cant give that up now.

I'm attached to shit like monitors reading colors accurately and how a keyboard is laid out. That said, I love my asus and it's so much more soothing to type on it than this new fancy lenovo.
That said I've named all of my machines: white angel, black angel, haunty, and king. i think i named my mom's tower pumpernickel.

@Lucca_Vendramel - i feel you. my asus (haunty) is 9 years old and isn't nearly as bad off as yours but it's been a desktop for 7 years of it's life because the battery shit fast and hard.

Oh wow! Yeah...XD I thought I was crazy, but it turns out I'm not the only one (doesn't mean I'm not crazy, but madness loves company )

Before my dudefriend and I got together for real this time, he'd gifted me a 2005 Mac...you know, the one like in Zoolander XD I used it for years and only sold it because it was...not adequate for what I do (and it was starting to look like it would go on the fritz soon.) We sold it to someone who wanted to love it as much as I did XD

I never named her, though...

I'm also attached to my pen. The nibs are okay, but the holder hold my heart <3 (okay, that's a little much, but I do love it 'cause it's super comfortable.)

There was a period of time when I would name my computers, and come up with "personalities" for them. It might not have been smart because I then felt incredibly bad whenever I had to replace them, lol. Not to mention the one that ceased functioning altogether...
