I certaintly have some stories that become guilty pleasures and that I gravitate too.
The really smart young genius that has a pension for breaking the law and serving self interests and grows - Artemis Fowl
The smart mouthed supernatural quipped story involving a large cast of characters that all have amazing personalities - The Bartimaeus Trilogy, Baccano!, and Johannes Cabal The Necromancer.
The romantic comedy that cuts the bullshit and gets straight to the meat of the relationship while still keeping ridiculous antics and scenarios alive and well with its comedy - Hapi Mari, Emma, Bridal Story,
Stories that show a historical context written through the eyes of a fictional protagonist (keeping out the textbook feel) - Bridal Story, Emma, The Book Thief
True Classics - The Grimm FairyTales, 1001 Arabian Nights, Pride and Prejudice, Frankenstein.
Stories I don't graviate too for comparison (these usually leed to me just being frustrated as hell)
Stories that hold no hope or future change of conviction for the characters involved - Game of Thrones,
Stories that usually have objectively bittersweet endings typically caused by the characters own fault - Byousoku 5cm Per Second (Any of his movies except maybe Your Name. haven't seen it yet.), Gantz (in a nutshell).
Stories that have interesting ideas but don't take full use of them, or squander them to the point of no return, forever trapping those incredibly unique ideas in Copyright purgatory (if they are specific enough).
